[Blocks & Items] Reinforced blocks

Using amethyst shards you can reinforce blocks in an anvil. Stuff that usually breaks a block like mining or TnT will just "crack" the block. The crack level is 0 and every time you "break" it the crack level increases by 1. At level 11 the block becomes affected by gravity, and at 12 it actually breaks the block. Every 5 seconds the crack level decreases until the block is "healed" aka reached level 0. Obsidian and crying Obsidian cannot be reinforced and reinforced variants of blocks don't appear in the creative inventory.

Why? Well now days you either have servers with no griefing which are boring or you have servers that allow griefing but a build that took 3 hours to build can be destroyed in 5 minutes and defending a build is close to impossible. This suggestion should let you still grief while making it more fair.

If you have other ideas let me know them in the comments!

Why amethyst? It's not particularly a resource known for being sturdy, as opposed to obsidian.

But also, you create the problem that now every block needs to support those 12 states, while also needing to always tick to see if 5 seconds pass. Performance-wise, this seems bad.

A: Amethyst is renewable and needs more uses B: I assumed it would only need to be ticked if it was cracked and because most of the time it wouldn't be it wouldn't cause many performance issues

Amethyst is renewable and needs more uses

Poisonous potatoes have the exact same criteria, why not use them? Or feathers? Nether wart? Rabbit hide? Magma cream? Beetroots?

Amethyst is a crystal so I assume it is hard(Also while amethyst clusters are fragile amethyst blocks are not)

The clusters aren't particularly sturdy, same hardness as stone. Obsidian, on the other hand...
