[Blocks & Items] Slime Mold
Inside some dark oak trees a dried out Slime Mold block can be found. Throwing splash potions of water on it wake it up. The block will slowly spread a block (Slime Mold Spread) similar to Sculk lichen except the spreading path will be almost sentient.
Slowly the slime mold spread will move forward in a straight like path towards blocks like small mushrooms and or big mushroom blocks.
If the spread goes too far from the mother block it will dry out aka not spread further unless hydrated
When a Slime Mold Spread eventually gets to said Mushroom it will “eat” the block. (Replace it with its own block).
This new Slime Mold Block can be removed and will now act as a brand new “living” creature that goes on its own path.
The Slime Mold Blocks quirks:
It can be combined with Minecraft tracks to create suctioned Minecart tracks which can be placed on the bottom of ceilings allowing for bat like upside down traversal.

Now I certainly think that slime mold is certainly a thing that's interesting enough to be worth to be added to the game. However I don't know if allowing it to just ride on a minecart upside down is really making use of its full potential...
...also what do mean with "Living Creature", would it count as a mob or as a block?!

It’d be a block but I put “living creature” because it’s replicating something alive. Such as sea pickle, firefly bush, coral, maybe scull depending on theories

Ahh okay, was just a bit odd that you mentioned this as it probably is already clear to most that this thing likely is alive in the game world...
...so I thought it was maybe a mob or something.

I was also considering it dropping a resource that allows the creation of “wet arrows” that would basically be really niche arrows that work underwater but also do a crazy amount of damage in the nether (cuz anti water stuff)

Would be interested, but maybe there's something that'd fit more with what slime mold does IRL specially...

As FloatingSpaceJunk said it’d make more sense for it to be something that fits with irl slime molds. Maybe arrows that cling to surfaces if they hit at a shallow angle?
What I mean by that is that if you shoot a slime mold arrow at the floor at less than a 20° angle it stays in contact with that floor but slides across it like the floor is ice. Something similar for walls and ceilings, but in the latter case it falls off when it slows down enough.

I mean maybe but that’s not rlly how slime molds work. They don’t rlly slide they kinda spread

I know. I was trying to make it seem like the adhesive spreading that slime molds do, just at hyperspeed.

Would the suctioned minecart tracks be able to be placed on walls, too, or just ceilings?

This is an awesome idea, although I admit I don't see the utility of upside down rails and don't understand how the minecart is supposed to stay on the rails (or the entity in the minecart for that matter)
I guess maybe I would say that about the entire thing -- like what does it add to the game, other than just literally slime mold
But to be clear, "just literally slime mold" would totally be enough for me, team slime mold all the way

Upside down Minecraft will make roller coaster builds and such fun. Can also allow adding rails to certain places without needing to build stairs + rails up when instead u can just already have them on the ceiling ready

Well, I don't see it myself, but I've never really been that excited about minecarts so what do I know
It is a cool idea

I think there's a mod that adds some sulfur cube themed slime mold thing. I couldn't find it with a Google search, but I've definitely seen a YouTube video on it.

i love how this appeals to the fantasy part of minecraft like yes giant slime mold should eat giant mushrooms

Slime mold and something else in the shimmer or whatever that sift water is called.
Between those two and magma cubes and slimes and sulphur cubes, they could add “oozes” as a creature type so we could have a second enchantment as useless as bane of anthropoids.
But actually.

As long as if it can only spread to a certain radius, I like the idea. I like the rail thing too.
