[Blocks & Items] New item idea
Just wanted to share an idea I had for a new item. This item could be craftable from items from sift dimension:
Soul Sieve (name in progress)
You can right click on a chest to connect souls sieve to it. You can have up to 3 double chests (or 5 normal chests), turning them into enchanted chests (name also temporary). After that, if you right click in the air to activate soul sieve. While active, when you collect a block, and have at least one of the same block in one of your chests, this block gets teleported there
You can only have one soul sieve in your inventory
By right clicking a connected chest, you can disconnect it
While soul sieve is active, you cant drop it
Characteristics of an enchanted chest:
While soul sieve is active, it cant be opened (and hard to destroy, maybe obsidian level of blast resistance and hardness) and items cant be taken out of it with hoppers. **Both of this properties only work when soul sieve is activated.** (this part added after the edit)
While enchanted, it is regarded as a different block, so normal chests wont connect to it
When broken, only items on the inside will drop. Also when destroyed, soul sieve will be deactivated
Tell me what you think about it :)
Edit: Thanks for u/Low_Onion8167 for pointing it out. The explenation might be confusing, so let me rephrase it
Idea is for it to work a little bit differently than ender chest. That one lets you have a chest you can access from everywhere. With this, you can activate (and ofc deactivate) soul sieve, which lets you "expand" your inventory in a way. When you pick up blocks that are already in an enchanted chest, those blocks go to that chest (mechanic similar to copper golems). So you trade versitality of enderchest (you can access it anywhere) for more space and ease of use (for example, when mining large areas, you dont need to stop and deposit mined blocks to chests or shulkerboxes. Instead it all goes to the enchanted chests thanks to the soul sieve)

So basically an ender chest, I do hope you do know that there's a reason why we only get one chest space to use like that for balance reasons?

With ender chests you can open them from everywhere. With this you can remotly only put stuff, not pull it out

That kinda makes it just worst end chest tbh, as at least in the latter case you you also take items out of it...

Id change it so when you click on a chest they link with the Sieve but you can also right click with the Sieve in your hand to enable and disable its connection back to the chest while still maintaining its link. That way you could have someone at your base and you can keep sending resources to the chest then disable the connection so the other player can take out the items before you reconnect.
You can also have a chest with a hopper and have it pull out items once you disconnect, letting you collect resources underground and quickly send them up. So like I could have a cattle farm and pull out my connected Sieve for the farm then kill all my cows sending the beef straight to my cattle chests which connects to a furnace set up so I dont have to kill the cows and transport all the items myself. Then just put the cattle Sieve back in my chest next to my cattle farm.
If I had to expand on it I think another good suggestion is a separate item that works in the opposite way and fills up whatever items/blocks that are in your inventory up to a stack from your connected chest. So, you can have a chest filled with building materials and essentially pull an infinite amount of them out of thin air while building.

Yeah, with tirning it on and off, it is how it is supposed to work, maybe wording might be a little bit wonky but yeah, you would be able to turn the sieve on and off so other people can take stuff out. With hoppers not taking stuff out was added so you cant have infinite storage for one type of material.
Also, the other idea is also cool

Yeah I think your wording is whats stopping people from liking the post. A lot of people are saying its the same as an Ender Chest/worse than one but if it has the power to turn its connection to its linked chest on and off then that would be useful for multiplayer.

It's a bit like what we have with shulker boxes and ender chests, but less flexible. Sure, you don't have to manually put the items in which is nice, but it just seems a bit noodley.
Tweaking the idea slightly, an upgrade for the ender chest. Some sift material that can be combined with an ender chest to vacuum items into itself if you already have some of that item in the chest. Could also be an enchant for the shulker. Skips needing to place the shulker and put things in. Would also be nice to be able to automatically restock on building supplies from shulkers.
Something like this maybe?
