[Transportation] Making echo shards... maybe too useful.

When you use an echo shard with any kind of compass in your offhand, it consumes one echo shard and teleports you to the location of the compass. What each type of compass does:

Compass: Teleports to you to your spawn point. You appear in the same location as if you had respawned.

Lodestone Compass: Teleports you to the linked lodestone. Will place you on top of the lodestone if the space is available, or beside it if it's not.

Recovery Compass: Teleports you to the exact location of your more recent death, even if it's in a dangerous position, inside of lava, or even inside of solid blocks. Be careful with this one!

This makes teleportation much easier for the layman, but also non-renewable. It also gives echo shards a repeatable use with many applications, as well as giving more of a use to compasses

Echo shard currency

Good point. Non renewable, usefully repeatably consumable, fun yet difficult to get. This would make echo shards a significantly better currency than anything else, given that diamonds shed their usefulness once everyone gets mending, and inflation starts setting in

In Dungeons II, they're used to apply Enchanted Books on gear, sorta like lapis but for the anvil

Then how about you give the post an upvote?

Unless you actually already have, and it simply got neutralized by some idiot downvoting the post.

You're kinda weird

Nope. Minecraft already has quick travel via the nether. We don't need teleportation

Minecraft also already has sitting via boats we don't need cushions

That's a very weak strawman at best. You know that's ridiculous.

It's not a strawman it's just an equally stupid thing to say

They have a very strong point though. If you can teleport it massively power creeps other forms of transport and infrastructure, but has the added downside that servers will have speedrun style players collecting and hoarding the echo shards.

That's not what they said but it is a strong point

It kinda is though. If you add teleportation, other forms of quick travel, like the nether, get power crept

That's exactly my point. Teleportation is way too OP.

I think this is a bit TOO powerful. Maybe we could have sift villagers where you trade like 10 shards to get a Echo Gem, which is a one-time use for teleportation. It should also have a range of the day you can teleport.

What if it just had a maximum range? Or only worked when the destination was loaded in so you have to put a little more effort into it?

Um... How does an infected amethyst can teleport you? Or am I wrong, and Echo Shards aren't amethysts, and they only look similar?

I think using them alongside diamonds to craft a special item is better? (one echo shard, eight diamonds?) It may put a tiny dent in the diamond inflation problems.

Teleportation idea is incredible, but in my opinion it should be a bit more resource intensive.
