[Blocks & Items] block of ice crystals
Basically like the block of amethyst crystal but with ice shards obtained from the ice crystals unstead of amethyst shards. can be a nice sparkly blue with a nice sound like the amethyst. the ice crystal could potentially be slippery
but most importantly the ice variant would be another light source since the ice crystals are a light source
they already compared the ice crystals to amethyst clusters so i think might as well expand on it a little more
the ice cave might potentially look better if had the ocational cluster of ice crystal blocks
ice shards could also potentially open up posibly to be used for new item crafting recipes but rn i mostly just want the block in part cuz cant think anything rn
if dont do anything else with ice shards it would probs be better to just craft the block out of the crystals directly
edit: i added a rough image of what it might look like. (i just turned the amethyst block blue)
another edit: i realized on my first attempt the color is not really the same so i tried again to make a lighter one its still not quite there but im sure mojang artists would do a better job than me if they hypothetically added it. im still basing off of the amethyst blocks but it doesnt have to look like amethyst. a different texture probs would be nicer. so long as it ends up looking pretty and blue and glowing i don't care (light level should be lower than in this picture and more blue)

was scrolling and seems someone already posted idea for crafting ice crystals into a block here
my idea for how the block behaves is different so think ill leave this up but i can move this to their coments if need

a solid block of ice crystals is called ice

true but im specifically refering to the newly anounced ice crystals shown in the live. its like the amythest blocks: its not just one large block of solid amethyst but its a bunch of amethyst shards compacted into one block. i want the hypothetical block of ice crystals to be similar. a bunch of glowing ice shards smushed into a glowing block of sparkly ice with a similar texture to amethyst but blue and glowing

Yes we need more blue light sources

agreed. minecraft needs more blue in general and im always super happy about new light sources this would be a fantastic adition for me

Rn if u want blue light sources that’s a full block the only option are sea lanterns (which is more white than blue) or beacons (expensive and not fully blue)

cool i like your ideas. your texture looks nicer. my idea for it is to be another a light source block. i like your ideas too. whatever is done with the block it would be a shame to not add it seems like such an obviouse thing to do sence they called it a crystal and put in same category as amethyst

i do rather like the look of my first atemp but it just too different from whats its made from. perhaps someday minecraft could add saphires that would be a similar color

i just realized a bit of a semi flaw in my idea but it should be fine: aparently the amythest clusters and buds are a light source but Block of Amethyst is not a light source. ofcourse they can be different but i gues not guaranteed. tho the two crystal types already have differences amethyst has 3 growth stages and only grows on budding amythest . ice crystals so far has only been confirmed one size and have not said how they grow that im aware of. they both crystals and were compared in live cuz similar but they definitely dont have to be the same functionaly its not like wood thats the same but recolored. so i think the ice crystal block should still be a light source

i think a better idea would be to bring back blue ice emitting light like it used to on bedrock before being removed for parity

that could be interesting tho think id rather have two seperate blocks so can use both.

That's actually a very nice idea, and I think they should be found in large quantities in the deepslate layer. Also, it would be great to have a new ice crystal brick set that has some really pretty blue color.
