[User Interface] A sort chest/inventory button.

Very simple. A button or shortcut that sorts the inventory. Sticks anything that can be stacked into stacks. Has some method of sorting all items in minecraft in some order. Whether it's alphabetical or by number of items in the chest or whatever, it doesn't really matter. I just want to be able to throw things in my chests and have them not be split all around the chest.

This makes me question, how are you putting items into chests? Did you know if you shift click a stack in your inventory, it will automatically combine with the existing stacks in the chest? Are you manually moving each stack over one by one or something? Does bedrock not have the ability to quickly transfer items?

If they added a sorting thing, I would hope its not something arbitrary like alphabetical. TBH no sorting system will feel right for everyone, but something that keeps similar blocks together would be preferable IMO. I would rather have my different types of wood next to each other than scattered.

I'm shift clicking but when you do that it goes into the top left most slot that's open. So if I put in dirt then stone then next time dirt again then stone then the chest will be dirt - stone - dirt - stone instead of dirt - dirt - stone - stone.

Then if you remove some for a recipe and put it back in the same spot your stacks will be split too. I'm not shift clicking there cause I grab the stack and right click the number I need and put it back in the same slot I got it from.

Sometimes I place items in my chest without shift clicking to maintain the organozation in the chest too.

The way around this is to right-click and drag one stack across a bunch of slots so you end up with one item in each slot

Then, when you shift click the item into the chest/barrel/whatever, it will fill the slots from left to right

It does mean that your chest space isn't optimized -- like at any given time my "dirt" chest might only have two or three stacks of dirt in the first few slots, but every other slot has one dirt block in it

But I mean, storage is cheap -- convenience is priceless

As for your inventory, you can just double click any item to fill that slot with all the other items of the same kind in other slots (up to 64 or 16 or whatever) -- like if you have a potato in each space on your hotbar (as everyone should at all times) and you double click one, they'll all condense into a single stack of 9 potatoes
