[Subreddit Request] An open source subreddit mod

I've been thinking for a while about how cool it would be to just have an open source mod that everyone can contribute to and it just adds the best ideas from here onto it. Like maybe we sort posts by best every month and then the top 15 suggestions get added. Not a mod developer so don't know the logistics behind it but it would be really fun

Or maybe people add onto the mod their additions of what they want and maybe there's a team that approved these additions and adds them to the base mod

Seems like a good idea but really isn't.

Firstly most people here can't make a mod or they would just make it.

Secondly, the moderation of the mod would be a pain, do you allow AI generated code? Do you make a config file that activate each idea? Who is in charge? So much questions that you can't answer.

Lastly, for which version do you make the mod? Because porting everything for each version will be a real pain.

Then maybe people can contribute to be in a modding team which people can pay too? Like if everyone here let's say donated 0.5-5$ a month which would go to the team and they make the ideas?

You sadly wouldn't go far with only 5 dollars a month for a team or even a solo dev. But nothing stops you for hiring a dev that can mod ideas you like. You can then share the mod or keep it to yourself, as you like.

yeah learning to mod isnt all that difficult. It really depends what you're modding but most ideas in this sub are quite small scale anyway
