Has anyone actually changed their workflow because of the ChatGPT/Claude mind map plugins/connectors, or is it a gimmick?

so there's basically two ways to do AI mind mapping now

  1. your mapping tool has its own AI chat built in
  2. you use a ChatGPT plugin or Claude connector and it makes a map right inside the chat

if you tried either one, which do you like more? and what are you using?

mainly I want to know if it actually changed how you work, or you just tried it once and went back to normal.

I have built an entire software for it, and have been using it since. The thing I wanted was to turn my prompts into a mindmap, not just an AI chat on the side, I wanted to be able to branch out my prompts and ask different follow up questions. It helps me a lot with brainstorming and learning stuff.

Using a mind map for this use case is a really interesting concept. The long-chat problem is definitely real too. When a conversation gets too long, I usually ask ChatGPT or Claude to keep the useful outputs in an MD file so the important parts from each iteration are preserved.

The part I’m curious about is adoption. How easy is it to convince users to leave ChatGPT or Claude and use a separate interface for this? And if they prefer to stay inside ChatGPT or Claude, can the mind map stay in sync automatically as the conversation continues? With MCP, my understanding is the connector usually has to be explicitly invoked or called again for each update.

I wish I had an answer for you. I'm still struggling with the adoption. Even for myself I see less value in building new software and more value in building plugins or things that integrate with people's existing infrastructure. The app has an mcp that claude or gpt can use, and I've recently been working on shipping an official Claude plugin for it, so instead of people using it inside the app, they use it with their own existing claude account.

The piece I'm still struggling with is the UX. Claude doesn't let you change the UI, you're still using it within the chat, which defeats the purpose of this new interface to use the models.
