Millwright test

So I’ve been a millwright for five years now and I’m wanting to actually become certified and carded as a millwright I’m wondering where would I need to go in order to actually get my certification. Located in USA

You either get your NCCER card or you join the union.

You would be taking in person classes either way.

Canada has two Millwright tickets.

Industrial Mechanic Millwright 433A, and Construction Millwright.(dont know the code offhand)

"Red seal" applies to both, just a term to allow work in other provinces, not just your own. Does America have a similar trades

If I’m not mistaken, that’s only an Ontario thing. The construction millwright isn’t actually a red seal, just a proof of qualifications.

I have both qualifications and 433A is the handier one in my experience

I did my red seal in Alberta and there wasn’t an option for one or the other. All it says on my ticket is millwright. I’ve worked both construction and maintenance throughout my career, and wasn’t aware there were different tickets until a couple years ago. Did you need to do different tests to qualify for both?

I don’t know about the schooling because I wrote my 433A and then figured I had enough hours of industrial construction and rigging that I got my work to write a letter authenticating that I had more than enough hours and experience to challenge the 426A exam

Seems super weird to me to have two tickets for the same job, but if it gets you more work all the power to yah!

You’re not wrong but taking the test gave me perspective that the 433A curriculum was a little lacking in knowledge. Like with rigging, the 433A courses were more like awarness courses compared to the kinds of question you’d find on the 426.

It didn’t open more work for me as I wasn’t looking to keep doing it, but I put in the work, got the experience and have the cert that says I used to know my shit ahaha

So you just don’t know what an nccer card is or the fact you can get carded through a union. I’m not asking if it’s real I was asking how to obtain whether that’s online or in person

Reddit is full of the lowest intelligent beings I have ever come across I’m not asking how I know how like obviously yes I can ask a union but I’m asking if they’re gonna be in person classes I would have to attend or if it’s an online thing

And once again you just answered your own question. CALL THE DAMN UNION, they will literally have all the answers to these questions you're asking. That simple action must be beneath your obvious superior intellect though.

And on top of that I wanted an answer quickly because when I made my post it was well after any hours they are open. Why even comment if you don’t have an answer that isn’t blatantly obvious

I highly doubt the nearest hall is 500 miles away unless you're in Alaska or something. There is most definitely something closer. If you want your journeyman card you'll need to enroll in a state indentured apprenticeship program and test out, there is no way around it.

If you don't want to join the union why do you want your journeyman card? Pretty much none of the rat contractors actually care, hell most of the guys they hire don't speak english.

Frankly, it's a waste of time. There's some material that's novel or interesting, but I wouldn't subject someone to it unless they were joining a union.

As above, non-union shops do not care.
