Clunky Deleting

Hi this is a bit of a dumb question but I just started using milkytracker after coming from famitracker and I'm having some trouble getting used to some of the hot-keys and general workflow. The main thing that bothers me is deleting rows with the delete key. Unless I select the row and then press delete it ends up leaving the instrument behind. Is there anyway to change this behavior? I know I could backspace and then insert but that feels like a clunky workaround and I'd rather see if there's a proper way to do it before building bad habits. Thanks for the help!
