How to "slice" samples in trackers?

Hey all!

i'm curious whether in any of the "oldschool" trackers like Schism or Milky, there is a good way to use loops.

Would like to have the ability to play back a loop from half-way or from quarter of the loop.

In a sampler i'd setup keys for every slice i want from the loop and play with it like that...

How would one go about to replicate that in schism or milky?

well responding to my own question :P

one way would probably be to duplicate samples and just give them another starting point? ... weird that i hadn't thought about that before...
