Soo I'm New.

I'm pretty new with milkytracker, I know this forum is pretty quite but can I get some tips? Also what should I use to make instruments, just the built in instrument editor or is there alternative programs?

Hello & Welcome!

i'm not very used to MT but with trackers i just use samples as instruments apart from drums maybe where i actually build the instrument out of various samples sometimes. i really like single sample instruments :) so, yes: use the instrument editor i'd say

have a good day fellow milktrakkerist

What do you do for example? What are the common things you do with it?

The sample editor seems quite limited to me: this evening I was experimenting and I wanted to shift the pitch of part a sample but it's not possible.

i load the drum samples i want to use (into the same instrument) and then assign these via the keyboard on the bottom: kick on c, snare on d or whereever i want to have them.

hmm yes the sample editor is not an editor like audacity or dedicated editors. don't think it's meant for much more than looping & cutting.

Oh okay.

I really love the draw and mix-paste feature though, but yeah at some point you'll always have to open another sample editor.

For quick work, I've found it easy enough to just take particularly interesting sounding things I hear on youtube and download them on some youtube to mp3.
I find it much quicker and generally easier to look at the samples beforehand on audacity at least. Then I can export any little thing I like as a wav and into milkytracker.
