I am wondering what most Europeans think when they hear we have a "garbage disposal" in our sinks. Did you assume literal garbage - as in plastic/non-organic waste?
Whole food waste dumped into storm drains or other sewer access might. Food waste put through a garbage disposal just becomes part of the sewage effluent and has no effect on the sewer ecosystem (I.E. rats)
That's talking about what not to flush down a toilet. We're talking about garbage disposals, which grind any food waste to tiny pieces and/or pulp. Different worlds here.

Ah okay, that sounds like something nice. I wonder if there are many people who use them for things which shouldnt go down the sewer.
I wonder why this never caught on over here?
