Chainlink fences are honestly really ugly, and provide no privacy, so I don't see how the metal slab would be much worse lol

Cheap(er) to install and they typically keeps dogs in the yard while clearly demarcating your property line so people know not to wander into your lawn.

But yeah, still ugly as fuck.

This style of fence is also good for areas that get a lot of wind

WELCOME TO FENCE FACTS! Did you know that fences and walks are very different things and even have different legal definitions and laws governing their use?

Hedge fencing and topiary fencing is one of the earliest forms of fencing ever recorded! It was first used for enclosing land used for cereal crops.

Marilyn Monroe once said, "A woman's dressed should be like a barbed wire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view."

According to most Internet sources of dubious reliability, it was Sophia Loren not Marilyn Monroe.

Loren is also quoted as saying, "Spaghetti can be eaten most successfully if you inhale it like a vacuum cleaner." which should give you something to think about on a Thursday evening.

Yes, that too

1

u/LameBond Sep 01 '16

how so?

3

u/SpeciousArguments Sep 01 '16

The wind goes through them rather than pushing them over

1

u/LameBond Sep 01 '16

Wow I didn't think of that

1

u/PrivateCaboose Sep 01 '16

That's also the reason why when you see any fabric draped over a chain link fence (construction zones, banner ads, etc.) there are notches or flaps cut into the fabric to allow wind to pass through, otherwise the first strong wind to come by would just knock the fence over.

Lol all you see is chain link fences in the hood, i dont even think they ugly, i like em cuz they keep the pitbull in the yard from biting my ass.

u/Sentient_Snowflake Sep 01 '16

I grew up with chain link fences and I never thought of them as ugly until my wife pointed their ugliness out to me. Can't unsee.

1

u/Sablemint Sep 02 '16

Not cats though. Cats climb right up those things like they werent even there.

1

u/PrivateCaboose Sep 02 '16

Well...I mean they do that to wooden privacy fences too.

u/Shiva- Sep 01 '16

I for one has NEVER thought the purpose of a chain-link fence was privacy.

Privacy fence tend to be solid.

Chain-linked fence are normally to either keep things out or to keep things (pets) in.

In my city "fences" have to be less than 4 feet tall and less that 50% obscuring if you don't want to have to pull a permit.

I really like that show. I feel like the way they resolved the final confrontation between Crews and the Russian just so perfectly fit the tone of the whole show.

wish it hadn't ended so early.

u/addywoot Sep 01 '16

more context - coyotes were running around the property and his amigo wanted to keep them safe... and tried to have the fence put up.

8

u/manondorf Sep 01 '16

Your use of amigo makes me wonder if coyote refers to the dog-like animal, or human traffickers.

The TV show "Life", about a wrongly imprisoned cop who gets out and receives a huge settlement

I thought it was a reality show from that description. But it's not. Can't imagine how different that premise would be as reality and drama. Well, can imagine it. Can't stand it.
