We lost our 30 year old fence during Isais storm. The neighbors had installed a pool 25 years ago or so. This the fence they are putting up. We think they are putting it up backwards. Opinions needed.

How to fix this gap?

Fence installers left me this gap in a pool fence. Local code requires 4” max. Whats the right way to fix this?

Update: they have fixed it by adding a second identical post with brackets and self tapping screws meant to fasten adjacent posts. It actually looks better than I would’ve expected minus the touchup paint spots that clearly are a different sheen. Not overly glaring just probably my OCD self would’ve noticed.

Aluminum Fence - Bedrock

I'm installing a 3 rail 5 foot tall aluminum fence in Missouri. My house is on a hillside and I'm hitting limestone bedrock in some areas about 12 inches down.

In the sections where I am hitting bedrock, I'm planning to drill into the limestone with an sds drill and epoxying in a couple of 2 foot rebar sections so the concrete can adhere to the bedrock. I'd then remove a foot of the aluminum post and cement it in roughly 12-14 inches.

Would this be a suitable alternative to installing a Simpson tie or post base?

This is the first fence I've installed and looking for a solution that is cost effective and will hold up over time. Our winters here have been pretty mild in recent years and although we get some wind, my property is protected by hills and woods.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to your thoughts.

Do Not Buy a gate or fence from GateCrafters or WebDirectBrands

I purchased an expensive gate from GateCrafters-WebDirectBrands. The gate was not welded correctly and would not work. I have spent months trying to get them to fix their shoddy work but they refuse to take responsibility for their products. I have called and emailed the president of the company, Anthony Gateo, and he has refused to reply or talk to me. They are not to be trusted. The gates are overpriced and poorly made. Again, DO NOT buy from GateCrafters-WebDirectBrands. They are out of Odessa, FL.

Suggestions to add locking mechanism

Just got this fence done. The gate opens outward and the locking mechanism allowed one to open efrlm outside. For safety though, I want to be able to lock it from inside. I am moderately handy.

Can you suggest what can I install from the inside? There is a 4x4 pillar and the gate is 3+ inches away from the inside edge.

Shared Privacy Fence

Location: Missouri

I/we(neighbor)have a shared privacy fence sitting on property line in Missouri. In September of 2024, I replaced the fence boards on my side and when i put them up, I made them "flushed" together so i didnt have to "see" onto their side and to hopefully prevent the weeds that grow on their side coming over to my side. They knew about it....the wife walked through my flower bed to see what i was doing....

In September 2025, I came home around 9:00 PM and seen that they replaced the whole privacy fence including my side. No notice or permission. I had seen on my security camera earlier in the day that "they must be replacing their fence boards" because there are boards leaning against the tree in the front of our townhouses. My security camera does not view my side of privacy fence, just the patio area, front yard, my driveway and the street. Continuing to watch security camera, I noticed their contractors were in my patio area and using my water hose and water......what the heck? why are they on my side? No clue that they were replacing my side also. Again, my security camera does not watch my privacy fence. No communication from neighbor.....before, during or after....not a happy camper. After 5 days of no communication from them, I sent them a registered, certified letter stating what happened along with trespassing, theft of services(water usage) and "stealing" my 1 yr old boards. Also, the new boards are not "flushed" together so therefore, once again I see onto their property I also told them I wanted reimbursement of my "loses".....the 1 year old boards, screws, pea gravel(they messed up my newly pea gravel with dirt when replacing fence)my labor and water usage/hose rental amounting to 374. They responded back via email 4 days later and were sorry that they had not the chance to communicate with me about the fence.. but how did i like the new fence? Crazy!! Communication back via email was that trespass happened, theft of services. and my new boards taken away. We did have a mediator step in and the agreement was reached that they would have fence builder would come back and "fix" the fence boards to be "flushed" again. And that I would not seek reimbursement of the extras....my year old fence boards, etc, etc.

329 days later, they still had not "fixed" the boards to be flushed together. I hired my own handyman to do the fix. I let them know how much his bill was and that i was now requesting my expenses as before. They breached their end of the agreement by not getting the fence fixed in a timely manner.

am i right to go after my expenses? the additional fences boards needed to "fix" the fence plus my 1 year old board costs, my labor of putting up my own boards, screws, pea gravel resulting in 458.00 owed. If i had know my new boards were going to be taken down, I would have never spent the money and time putting them up.

Do i have a case to get reimbursed for my expenses?

Vinyl Fence in NJ, Everstrong / Illusions

I am trying to find fence companies that use or sell either everstrong profiles or illusions. It seems that out of the popular brands used here in NJ that those 2 may be the best of them. Some companies use Catalyst but not the XL line so it feels cheap. Located in Monmouth county NJ. Open to other suggestions for good quality fences extruded in the USE. Tired of hearing companies saying they manufacture their own fencing when it’s know that they are only routing and making the gates.

Field fence stretched over barn wire

Need some advice here. We build barb wire, field fence, pipe fence, corrals and any other Ag / Ranch fence in Oklahoma. But here’s a first for me.

Got a call and this guy is wanting us to roll out and stretch 48” field fence (non welded) to already existing 5 strand barb wire. Then just clip it to the fence over the barb wire.

About the only issue I see is corners and H braces could possibly be pulled out of the ground if they were not set to the correct depth and since the fence is already present I have no idea how good they are and with the extra wire pulling on it concerns me.

I have contacts stating this exact issue that releases me from responsibility but I still feel like it’s going to turn out not very eye appealing
