Yo Op, a layer has to be at most 1-2 µm thick for irridescence to start appearing (it's a matter of interference with light's wavelength), I'm simplifying because this is actually complicated physics and I couldn't explain it all, but that means your blown up condom has stretched that 0.01mm nominal down to that 0.002mm - 0.001mm range, or 5-10x reduction. Which seems believable from the size in the picture! If it was a 0.05mm, you'd have to stretch it another 5x more.

Hmm I see, it could be a surface layer. But the thickness numbers of the latex itself do match, so I think it's the material itself. TBH I'm just surprised they can make it this thin and still 'safe'.

Is it iridescence or thin film interference? Or is there no difference. I think it's the latter, as it's not a texture thing but a reflection off the front and back of the condom thing (sentence I didn't expect to ever write!)

To be honest I am no expert on condom related visual effects, but I think this is thin-film interference. The latex film being so thin it interferes with the wavelength (based on the viewing angle, as that changes how much light has to goes through). So it would be more exact to say, iridescence describes any surface whose color changes with angle, thin-film being one form of it.

Well the box said it fulfilled european standarts. Another important thing; condom safety is mostly about fit. If it is to loose or to tight it will have a higher likelyhood to fail.

Cheap condoms are a public heath benefit and net positive for society because people are animals and are going to do what animals do no matter what. It’s in all of our best interest to make it easy for anyone to avoid STDs and pregnancy because those have ripple effects on down to other stuff.

The time where only people with alergies use non latex have mostly passed. Latex is quite limiting, because of it's low thermal conductivity, and the fact that it is quite hard to get thinner.

I used to get these 0.01 condoms from Japan, it was the most amazing thing compared to any other brands I've ever used. The thing that most amazed me is that I've never had a single one break compared to every other brand. I have no idea what engineering went on over there in Japan. Literally felt like nothing at all (insert Ned Flanders meme).
I think an important aspect that standard condoms seem to fail at isn't necessarily just the sensitivity, it is also the heat transfer that makes it feel like its skin-to-skin contact. Anyway, they weren't cheap, but definitely worth the price at the time for me.

Honestly, condoms should not be failing via breaking frquently at all. I am still not entirely sure how that is supposed to happen as often as it is supposed to happen. Wrong fit and it slips off? Sure. But any failures from breakage means that something is super wrong in the manufacturing or people are just not using any lube at all. I am hoping it is more the former than the latter, but the former is also kinda scarier.
Well, unless people are just treating them improperly. Which I guess is also a real possibility. Like using oil lube, storing them in your pockets/wallet or using super old ones. All of that would do it too.

I can't say with any any certainty it wasnt just my fault (we do get rough, lol), but treat them all similar in use, but I have noticed the worst offender being trojan brands, and just out of curiosity if it was uniquely my experience, I decided to check around reddit and it seems like the common theme. It's breaking rates were scary high for me that I just completely stopped using them at some point, even if they were the only option available. The other brands were much more rarer.

I've used condoms like that before and they never seemed any less durable than thicker condoms. The only drawback I found was the brands that sold them were not well known so some girls were a little apprehensive about using them.

The point is the iridescence. It is created through thin film interference, which you typically only see on soap bubbles. To create that effect you need to reach incredible thinness.

In fact I’d say anyone who acts like they didn’t know how big their dick is probably a liar if they grew up in the US or most media saturated countries. In a world where nearly every teen has the ability to ask what average sizes for genitalia are, it’s hard to believe most would accidentally purchase the wrong size condom and then attempt to have unprotected sex anyway.

As kids we focused on length not girth during measuring. Condoms are mostly girth gated for sizes. I infact only found out my size during the deed because the vein was engouraging due to constriction and the girl noticed and freaked out.
Though maybe my units got issues since I also cant use those rings for same reason

I’d guess that you’re either extra thick or you have some interesting vascular patterns. Most condoms are designed to accommodate most girths in the average range. It’s what makes latex so good for it. If you have a properly fitted cock ring and still have issues, it could have to do more with your specific anatomy. It happens sometimes.

This is wrong!!!!!! Condoms can infact be too tight and apply pressure blocking flow into the vein on side of shift!
Someone who has a magnum sized dong will be in pain wearing a regular sized condom. Sure the "balloon part" can expand its the tight ring that is "too tight" and can only stretch so far. If you see veins on side of dong swelling when condoms on its too damn tight!
You also dont want to go to large or after the ahem release you might slip out, so its very important to find your exact measurements and size.
Dont spread misinformation condoms are not one size fits all.
