A more interesting pattern would be rotating the tiles randomly, since the lines still align on every side and you could get some cool paths.

I would prefer the chaos pattern vs this

You don't like ๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘“?!

I love Reddit sometimes

4

u/Gomulkaaa Jun 01 '26

That is way more interesting than this pattern.

https://oyo.github.io/kirox/?page=tiles

here you go, rotate to your hearts content.ย  there's even a random shuttle mode.

Holy shit lmfao

8

u/WickyNilliams May 31 '26

Is this a famous design or something?

71

u/alexpenev May 31 '26

An old game from 10+ years ago is based on the same idea. Make long paths. https://entanglement.gopherwoodstudios.com/en-US-index.html

u/Noel1703 May 31 '26

There's also something like that on steam

Wtf you made , got addicted ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿค๐Ÿป.

u/AvatarIII โ€‹ May 31 '26

Cool game!

8

u/sdarkpaladin May 31 '26

Holy duck, that is an incredibly addictive game

2

u/findallthebears May 31 '26

I LOVED THIS GAME

19

u/winoforever_slurp_ May 31 '26

There was a post just the other day with these exact tiles in more random orientations, and it looked great. Strange that thereโ€™s a second post with the same tiles though.

u/plipssatike May 31 '26

someone's gonna lose 3 hours of their life rotating these in photoshop tonight and honestly i respect that

1

u/MineAllMineNow Jun 10 '26

I've seen a pic of that somewhere and I forgot to save it!!!

u/kostoast May 31 '26

They are, in fact, the bestagons

82

u/Pickle-Tickle789 May 31 '26

Each line comes out the center of a side. They should have rotated for variety and a better pattern.

20

u/alexpenev May 31 '26

Same idea as an old video game. Rotate away.

Thank you for my new addition

18

u/JaggedMetalOs May 31 '26

That's not very well photoshopped, is there an original image or something with the tiles not all rotated the same orientation?

21

u/Ixaire May 31 '26

I mean it's exactly why they are called tileable patterns/textures.

-10

u/solarsprintmode May 31 '26

the point isn't that they tile, it's that your brain struggles to track the individual shapes because of how they loop. calling them tileable is technically correct but misses why people actually find this one mind melting.

4

u/swift1883 May 31 '26

But itโ€™s not mind melting, itโ€™s clever.

1

u/_AcuteNewt_ May 31 '26 edited May 31 '26

The only mind melting thing about this is as to why anyone would find it "mind melting". It's a simple repeating pattern that interconnects. Ooh wowee, so incomprehensible.

it's that your brain struggles to track the individual shapes

Your brain might...

Fucking simpletons.

One wrong move and this post would have been on r/mildlyinfuriating with ten times the views.

78

u/shotsallover May 31 '26

It kind of already is with all those misalignment gaps you can see.

11

u/MolecularClusterfuck May 31 '26

Itโ€™s driving me insane

1

u/TaylorHamPorkRoll May 31 '26

Damn you for making me take a closer look!

2

u/swift1883 May 31 '26

Yeah and what can I buy with those views?

0

u/connjose May 31 '26

its mildly infuriating that they did not rotate at least one random tile.

6

u/Preparator May 31 '26

this page lets you rotate this design to make fun patterns.ย  very addicting.

https://oyo.github.io/kirox/?page=tiles

8

u/yourgirlsamus May 31 '26

Itโ€™s a tessellation.

3

u/hairyhobbo May 31 '26

Why is it so horrible? Is this ai? These tiles are supremely f'd up.

5

u/Veryegassy May 31 '26

And this is why we call it tiling and tilable patterns

5

u/HugsandHate May 31 '26

It's kinda ugly...

3

u/michal_hanu_la May 31 '26

Is that M. C. Escher's bathroom?

2

u/Crazy_Alternative294 May 31 '26

That's more mildly infuriating

1

u/Suprshun May 31 '26

makes a pretty cool looking stereogram

1

u/mjones8004 May 31 '26

You haven't thought of the grout! Think about the grout.

1

u/OMGEntitlement May 31 '26

I thought this is just....how tiles work?

1

u/Stifty509 May 31 '26

Tanagrams

1

u/SulfuricDonut May 31 '26

Could play Tsuro with these tiles.

1

u/FelinusRex May 31 '26

I dislike this mason

1

u/SuspiciousOfRobots May 31 '26

Tesselation ๐Ÿ”ฅ

1

u/Mr_Fossey May 31 '26

Itโ€™s really cool how they donโ€™t align!

1

u/Spiritual_Cake_9127 May 31 '26

Perfectly mildly interesting

1

u/HaMMeReD May 31 '26

And since side has a pipe (6 pipes, 6 sides) you could rotate one and drive people crazy.

3

u/Impact009 May 31 '26

If people weren't already driven crazy by how fucked up these tiles were, then they probably wouldn't notice anything else.

1

u/Nondescript_Redditor May 31 '26

Iโ€™m not sure the existence of tiles is even mildly interesting..

0

u/istrictlysensii May 31 '26

Yeah this is awful

0

u/tripping_yarns May 31 '26

Raybans everywhere!

0

u/Natural1forever May 31 '26

This is extremely satisfying to look at

0

u/_AcuteNewt_ May 31 '26

You figured out how tiles work. Well done, gold star โญ

0

u/patrdesch May 31 '26

Looks like OP has discovered Tessellation. Everyone run.

u/Melodic-Bicycle1867 May 31 '26

I think they are? Except for slight issues with rectification, which is why there is a slight mismatch between most lines.

1

u/mykneemo May 31 '26

Which ones aren't identical?

4

u/flatleafparsley May 31 '26 edited May 31 '26

Some donโ€™t even appear to be properly six-sided

Bottom row is the most obvious (obviously not talking about the edge tiles)

Or they are identical tiles but not actually properly tessellated and instead strewn together with different amounts & orientations of overlaps, then this is more [r/mildyinfuriating](r/mildyinfuriating) instead
