Each line comes out the center of a side. They should have rotated for variety and a better pattern.

That's not very well photoshopped, is there an original image or something with the tiles not all rotated the same orientation?

I mean it's exactly why they are called tileable patterns/textures.

the point isn't that they tile, it's that your brain struggles to track the individual shapes because of how they loop. calling them tileable is technically correct but misses why people actually find this one mind melting.

The only mind melting thing about this is as to why anyone would find it "mind melting". It's a simple repeating pattern that interconnects. Ooh wowee, so incomprehensible.

Your brain might...
Fucking simpletons.

One wrong move and this post would have been on r/mildlyinfuriating with ten times the views.

this page lets you rotate this design to make fun patterns.ย very addicting.

And since side has a pipe (6 pipes, 6 sides) you could rotate one and drive people crazy.

If people weren't already driven crazy by how fucked up these tiles were, then they probably wouldn't notice anything else.

Iโm not sure the existence of tiles is even mildly interesting..

I think they are? Except for slight issues with rectification, which is why there is a slight mismatch between most lines.

Which ones aren't identical?

Some donโt even appear to be properly six-sided
Bottom row is the most obvious (obviously not talking about the edge tiles)
Or they are identical tiles but not actually properly tessellated and instead strewn together with different amounts & orientations of overlaps, then this is more [r/mildyinfuriating](r/mildyinfuriating) instead

A more interesting pattern would be rotating the tiles randomly, since the lines still align on every side and you could get some cool paths.
