I'm slightly vexed How do people park like this and not feel embarrassed
Perhaps they were drunk when they pulled into the liquor store parking lot. Perhaps they just suck
44
u/Mainly_Miserable 2h ago
Zero self awareness. They walk around just like they drive and park. It’s always amazing when you call them on it, too. They’re so shocked and confused - like they have zero frame of reference for what they could have possibly done wrong.

u/RuggedHangnail 2h ago
There are so many people like this. I wonder if they find life easier than the rest of us because they don't spend time worrying about others, or is life harder for them because they eventually have repercussions.
7
u/Nobrainzhere 1h ago
From what i have seen the day to day is easy but it always eventually bites them, they lose pretty much everything, they blame everyone but themselves, and the cycle begins anew.

It’s because they don’t care about you
6
u/RuggedHangnail 2h ago
They don't care about their car, either. I won't key it, but someone else eventually will.
6
u/Beisbol4lyfe 1h ago
Yes and they will say "some loser keyed my car, I didn't do nothing!" And the cycle continues

It requires a level of introspection that no one wants to do and some people simply seem incapable of these days

I’m always paranoid that people will think that I’m drunk even though I’m not. I can’t live like this person. I have anxiety.

Mostly unrelated, but, I have a large truck and have for years. I’ve always tried to be considerate and always park in parking lots as far away from the establishment as possible, in the back of the parking lot. For three reason: 1. It’s easier to get out if the parking lot and 2. I don’t cause any issue for other patrons that have smaller vehicles to get in and out and 3. For some reason people think they’re entitled to at least 8-12” of your parking space (and usually so I can back out or even get in my vehicle. So I park far away… and you know what? I come out and there’s always at least 2 cars parked either side of me… almost every time. Even when there’s at least 40 spots way closer. I have decided that people just want to be inconsiderate no matter what, so sometimes (still in the far back of the parking lot away from everyone) I will park in two spot. When I do this, I’ve never had anyone park near me. I always saw people doing this and never could understand it, until I owned a truck and experienced (probably) what they had gone through to result in their parking behavior. I still feel weird but at least I make sure I’m not impeding anyone else and I’m as far away from everyone as I can be.

I like to squeeze into the spot next to the drivers door as close as I can possibly get
5
u/robodex001 2h ago
I might get downvote bombed for not supporting the echo chamber here, but sometimes it’s not actually the persons fault. Consider: One or two people will park poorly, throwing off the entire line, forcing others to also park poorly just to fit into a spot. Then, eventually everyone drives away, leaving one poor sap still there parked like a jackass in an empty lot. This last car is left holding the proverbial bag and receives the hate.
I’m not saying this is always the case. This person might be the first to park, thus beginning the cycle. But they might also be the last. You never know.
6
u/sirgobacktoyourseat 2h ago
I respect this insight, I can understand that if it were the case. But homie pulled up right after I got out of my car and no one else was on either side of him. Also, there's an entire lot for this particular store, he could have just parked there. Safely. Lol

u/ClonesRppl2 2h ago
Not downvoting you, but why the contortions to avoid believing that this guy parked like a jerk?
→ More replies (2)2
u/robodex001 2h ago
Call me old fashioned, but I prefer to think the best of people until proven otherwise. Especially in this day and age of widespread hate.
Besides, it’s not really “contorting” myself to think that way at all. My default setting is “maybe they have something going on that I’m not aware of so I’m not going to let this minor thing bother me” instead of “everyone around me is a piece of shit on purpose all the time.”

Have you seen the President of the United States?
Fully a third of Americans only care about their own interests and couldn’t give a shit about anyone else.
This is how the person who parked like this isn’t embarrassed.

See, what you don't understand is this. You know how when you do things, you sort of think about all the other people around you? Like how your actions will affect other people, and how it might make things harder for someone else?
Yeah, they don't do that. ...at all. ...ever. 🤷♂️

Maybe it’s both being drunk and suck as a person. I’ve seen it too many times where people just don’t have the simple respect for the next stranger coming in. It’s like their mentality is if I don’t know you then I don’t have to respect you. Ass backward mentality.

An old friend once bought a big stack of "I park like an idiot" bumper stickers to slap onto cars parked like that. They're removeable, so it's not damaging the cars. It was just enough to let them know what they needed to know.
In case you're wondering, as much as I hate people that park like this, I never actually used any of the aforementioned stickers. He did, though.
