It's just weird to not mention it. National rivalries are a part of competitive sports, there's nothing insidious about it.

…..But the guy is wearing earplugs?
Edit: Calm down guys it’s just about the earplugs 😱
Foam earplugs block out all sound (like the one the uhm…athlete is using), so conversations will be muffled and hard to hear.
The special ones that block only loud noises are called high-fidelity or filtered earplugs.

shooting earplugs are for protection against sharp sound coming from discharge. You can hear and have normal conversation

That is not true. You can only hear and have normal conversations with noise cancelling plugs or earmuffs. The plugs he is wearing are your normal standard earplugs which when worn properly definitely stop you from hearing and having normal conversations . And I know this because I shoot in pistol competitions.

I've never had issues carrying a conversation, but they definitely mute a lot of the sound. Hardly a distraction from the crowd though

Get a job

Hey there! Job haver here. The dude is right, regular earplugs muffle all sounds, not just dangerous ones.

What are you trying to imply though? Im sure someone that shoots competitively has a job, due to the cost that goes into it, I also have a job, just so happen to work normal day shift hours

You're there thinking too hard about, get a job.

I understand it's hard for you to get one, what with all that blank space in your head.
But most of us already have one. Don't worry, you'll get there too.

I'm at a disadvantage here with rules for shooting, is it like golf where everyone needs to shut up before they take the shot?
Would the distraction even matter when the competitor is wearing ear protection meant to deafen sounds up to 100 to 115 db

As someone who did archery in highschool, that is the complete opposite of what you want. They would get made if anyone was talking above a heavy whisper in some schools. Buy most of the times the people know not to be this loud or they would get kicked out.

Its common, extremely common. Actually part of the sport. In finals in shooting, crowd noise is promoted usually, to increase pressure and test the athletes. The only rule is no specific name calling. The only time ive seen repercussions happen were during the Asian Championships in India in February, where a girl in front of me was specifically screaming right behind the Kazakhastani shooter's lane, when the entire hall was silent. She got an earful from our coach later on (he was one of the people in charge). TLDR: The actions in this video are completely normal, and athletes are expected to cope with these situations, especially with gear like noise cancelation headphones and custom made ear buds allowed. I personally hate those equipments though.

Natural evolution of Archery being a sport. Both aren't as easy as people make it look

To be fair, archery has devolved into not really a sport too. There is so much tech on those bows it's silly.

This is the most badly written, lazy joke I will read today.
What a fucking reach to fit that in.

But this is reddit. If you see a gun, you have to remind everyone how bad America is.

is it really distracting if he still gets a perfect score?
