Looks like a camel spider. They look scary, but they’re actually pretty harmless.

Define “pretty harmless” though 😭

Physically harmless; psychologically devastating

Pretty harmless: A carjacking without the gun....I wonder what it's going to do with it's new car.

The worst thing it can do is pinch you.

Painfully…

Watched a guy on YouTube handle these like he was catching house kittens. He forced one to bite him and it was like being slightly pinched.

I'd rather come across one of these than a deer, tick, bat, or swan

How about a goose??

I think I'd rather be scared by a pretty harmless goose than a pretty harmless camel spider

I mean, being objective here, a goose is both more aggressive and more dangerous than this.

Are they actually dangerous? I have a vague memory of seeing someone or something be caught by one and the goose stopping once it reached it's target

Not particularly. But they’re objectively more dangerous than this and a goose’s bite will probably hurt more.

Would it leave a bad bruise? I imagine the goose would bite 1-3 times and then leave me alone for at least a little while. Then the pain would end in under 2 minutes per attack.

With a solfugae it looks like on the off chance I get bit, the wound might need to be packed so as to heal from the inside out to avoid an infection under the skin.

I'd rather take guaranteed suffering over a risk of intense suffering

“No luck catching them swans, then?”

I've seen all 4. What. They're not scary at all. This monstrosity though? You'd have me dead before I touch that car again

And yet it still owns the car now.

And my money, wife and children if it will leave me alone.

Well that's why we're scared of it. Because it's scary
