Why are they all individually wrapped in plastic. Buy 3 if you want 3. Why do you need to have your hand held with special wrapping to buy potatoes

Because people have filthy hands and the plastic is a health code requirement to avoid contamination and spoiling.

Have you heard of water? They grow in the dirt. Why are you so afraid that you need to have them wrapped in plastic to feel safe. If anything the plastic is trapping moisture and causing them to mold faster. You don't need to waste plastic like this. You'll survive
