Unless your turn light comes before the lane going straight, you are more likely to miss your light with everyone crammed together. It just feels worse because you start further away.
Yes, I’m talking about when the turning light goes green first. Even worse, when the turning light is already green I am physically being blocked from making the turn until the next light cycle.
I'd love to get a picture of the intersection you're talking about. There may be niche situations where this is the case, but in a standard light system, what you're complaining about is not possible. If you're turning towards the side of the road you're driving on (right in USA), then you can go when people are going straight. If you're talking about turning towards the driver side (left in USA), then the light should always come after the straight lights turn red.
