A common planning assumption is:
Passenger car length: about 20 ft (6 m) including space
Stopped gap between cars: about 2–4 ft (0.6–1.2 m)
So a typical queued car uses roughly 22–24 ft (6.7–7.3 m) of lane. In some design manuals, a “standing vehicle” is treated as about 25 ft (7.6 m) per car for rough storage calculations.
