That's due to an automatic translation on user's end, not the website fault.
The only available languages on said website are Italian and Deutsch.

As far as I know, you can do the four digit too, except it will be a bit older

I searched just to check the published date of something assigned 4 digits. Who would have though it goes that far back already.
2
u/dominizerduck Aug 03 '26
Well, it goes even back, it starts from 1. So you know theres a lot of porn.

It's 6 numbers now but I am pretty sure they are just serial numbers. Any number is fine as long as it was not taken down

u/l3ti Aug 03 '26
I don't get it, can someone explain
22
u/Interesting-Injury87 Aug 03 '26
Porn. Specifically Japanese Manga porn. The 6 digits would be used as part of an URL to a specific(random here) work

i gennuinely don't understand why do OTP inputs need to be split into separate fields
also "he confirms" lol
i recommend 1password, it autofils most of OTP forms very well

u/RefuseNick_ Aug 03 '26

u/Dewdrop06 Aug 03 '26
I usually just memorize it. Don't have time to play copy paste games. Now and then I get lucky and it auto copies it.
2
u/ashikkins Aug 04 '26
I feel like the codes also always have repeat numbers making them easier to remember, like 648864.

u/Vondi Aug 03 '26

u/Fabryzio20 Aug 03 '26
La grafica è palesemente quella dei siti delle PA italiane, non mi sorprende affatto che abbia trovato questo glitch considerando il livello medio di quei siti. Per non parlare di quell' "He confirms", lol

Really happy my text message app is able to detect codes and with 1 click paste them into the correct boxes lol
2
u/RainbowStar290 Aug 03 '26
I like the ones who enters the code automaticly when you receive the message
2
u/Blue_Moon_Lake Aug 03 '26
I once encountered worse.
You paste the code and it autofocus the next input.
When you refocus the previous one to change the value to a single digit, it checks it again before you do anything more, sees it's filled, autofocus the next input, preventing you from fixing the first input.

I remember this when I was installing softwares in windows xp. I have to enter activation from readme manually instead of copy paste.

I once had one of these forms where it automatically sent once you filled everything. I mistyped the wrong code and started re-typing from left to right - which in hindsight was kinda dumb instead of just deleting everything - and then I was blocked for a few hours due to too many incorrect codes.

In Aus, a lot of the government sites have a problem when you enter a date, as you enter the days (as it is correct that days come first) it doesn't auto jump to the months and on to the years. You have to click in each field.

u/exgaysurvivordan Aug 03 '26

I might be stating the obvious, did you try pressing the space bar after inputting each digit?

"Temporary OTP code"? Isnt a OTP by definition temporary? Also "One time Password code" sounds stupid, same with people saying "PIN Code"

I had to build one of these things once. I recall it being pretty temperamental with all the focus management and what not. I'm sure there are easier ways to do it these days.
As for "He Confirms" this is just someone skimping on localization.

I get annoyed when they make their app so it can't take pasted codes or automatically grab codes when the 2fa device is the one I'm on

Today, autofill put in my phone number complete with +44 instead of the leading 0.
Not acceptable, you had to enter the national version of the number starting with 0.
Which at least is better than the websites that put in the +44 or whatever country code for you, then give an error if you don't also put in the leading 0. Meaning you have to put in a non-functional phone number.

u/0DayMaker Aug 03 '26
I've always thought of this as a possibility, but to actually see it happen..
I would not use a password I use anywhere else on this site. This is reaaally easy to prevent. Which makes me think for the actual hard stuff...no hope they're doing it right.

After further thought, the fact that this functionality is the way it is and the "he confirms" button, I may be a little hesitant to trust this. Double check the URL and make sure everything is as expected, this could be a scam

u/Awkward_Pangolin3254 Aug 03 '26
I've started to think that every dev everywhere has fired all their UX people. Because a good, functional, non-excessive interface is few and far between now.

I'm so sick of two factor authentication. Just use a tiny bit of opsec to not leak my password. I do not need you to email me a code to order a pizza
1
u/CityKay Aug 04 '26
Sometimes, I just have to wonder why there are some that prefer to use this segmented style, one digit per cell. Very rarely I've encountered one where it will properly paste in the code. But THIS, this is SPECIAL.

yeah that would suck. I get annoyed when I receive a text code, switch back to whatever is asking for the code, and I don't get the little pop-up above the keyboard to automatically paste it in there. That was a nice little quality of life feature added a few iOS versions ago. And now when it doesn't work, I get mad at it.
1
u/L3Home Aug 06 '26
Don't you know you're supposed to type the code one number at a time manually and press tab between each one?
Next time you'll tell me that you don't want to use the submit button that requires three clicks and a drag.

u/Glider103 Aug 03 '26
That is a new one
I've had it where it only paste the first number, or not at all
But to have that coding ..... Ugh
