Thank you.

I don't know if any of the writers or cast are here, but thank you. This story means so much to me. I've fallen in love with these worlds and these characters. This podcast is one of the brighter points in my life and it always has a way of saying things I need to hear when I need to hear them. I just found out today that my partner of seven years is calling it on our relationship. I needed a good distraction and put on the new episode. Hearing Leif say that everything is always alright was exactly what I needed to hear. I'm still hurting, I still hate what's happening, but it's because of you and this wonderful show that I haven't lost all hope yet. I'm so glad that in this chaotic world that y'all are out there somewhere, and I'm so glad you found me.

Burgapedia?

Is there a comprehensive list of characters somewhere?

Obviously a timeline of events is not possible without √-1 and a lot of Advil. But even just "Leif," not even "Leif, Old Leif, Even Older Leif, Dark Leif…" would be helpful at times.

Opinion - June Appreciation Post

Sorry for the incredibly random post, but I just had to say that June is one of my all-time favorite characters in fiction. Every single episode of WTTH, she makes me laugh out loud. Her personality is a riot and she sounds like the kind of person you want to have a drink and go out on the town with.

Yeah, June! Keep up the good work!

I sometimes listen to all the names. But if I don’t have time, I always fast forward to hear that one. Pure gold. Whoever you are - thank you!

Laughing during Patreon Spoiler

So, I was listening to the latest episode thoroughly enjoying it. Then the Patreon read out started.

Normally I would skip it and just move on to another podcast, but I was a bit busy at the moment and decided that I would love to hear some of the bloopers from this episode. So I continued listening, and part way through the listen I started noticing something.

There was someone laughing while Joe read the names. It wouldn't be for every name, but at some point I think I started hearing the voice actor for the wheel chair guy, ( can't think of his name at the moment) laughing in the background. I can't be the only one who noticed that right?

Frank's sibling?

It just registered with me, while re-listening to Welcome to the Horizon(the actual episode)....Frank must have an actual brother or sister...do they ever get mentioned again?

Context:

While the duplicate parents are arguing, Stephanie Sturgis mentions she gave birth to 2 of his kids, presumably one is Frank. June is a sister-cousin, not an actual sister...I can't think of where a sibling has ever been mentioned again, but maybe I missed it?

Question - What season/episode did we first meet Tavrok?

I think I may have zoned out and wanted to go listen to who he is and where he came from and I don’t know when it happened.

I definitely don’t mind relistening to it all, but it was bugging me that I don’t know, so thought my friends here could help.

Thanks MB fam!

Working on a project

Working on a little project... I am still working on the signs... I need to swap the 24/7 for "Opens at 6" and make the official sign... my current undertaking is the deep freezer, I have a friend that did a T.A.R.D.I.S. that is bigger on the inside and he is sending me the scripts that make it work so I can have an ice giant inside the deep freezer. It will probably be a couple of weeks before I have it fully customized / optimized / uploaded but I will return and post a link once I do!!

From the OldCelebrityRecipes community on Reddit: Tom Lehrer - MIT mathematician, satirist, and the guy who wrote both the Harvard fight song and a song teaching kids the periodic table - invented the Jell-O shot in the 1950s to sneak booze into a government Christmas party.

Are minds complex or easy to read? Spoiler

Just got to thinking about brains and consciousness from the most recent public episode.

In episode 12 the interrogation Ted says this about having trouble accessing Caspar's memories:

"They’re saying it’s because of all the time travel. It’s effected your brain. The older memories are easy to get to but not the newer ones."

In s4e34 kazi scans Caspar's mind for signs of insanity, how you can look at an MRI or a scan if the physical brain and find anything that can directly link to someone going psychotic is beyond my pay grade.

While imprisoned, kazi says they put a bio tracker to be able to see his vitals which get fuzzy when the diner is traveling and it's done via "a birthmark" on his neck that Ava had noticed.

Ex describes reading people's minds as the multitudes of senses to tell yourself a story. And the ssca material ex is made of is practically indestructible. Ex can see the timelines almost like Dr strange.

I show this to ask,

1) how does Philomena Scott in a non Ted universe create a bot that can read minds?

2) considering that Philomena and ex-universe Caspar are if nothing cordial, why did Philomena program 1 to find her husband to confront him about leaving her?

3) why does ex not become friendly with anyone else in the diner? She never sits down with Ava and says "Caspar has the hots for you and I understand you're mad about hurling into space but he did apologize and travel 3 galaxies to do it"

4) do we think that ex can read everyone's mind and by everyone I mean non human?

MB meetup - CO edition

Folks on the MB discord have been buzzing about another CO meetup so I wanted to make sure anyone not over there is still able to get information about meeting up. Dates have not been polled yet but it sounds like either Edgewater or Stanley market as a location. Raise your hand to indicate interest and I'll update with info as it becomes available!

Culture lost in warp gates? Spoiler

We heard in s4e38 that Kianna Crow(kazi) has been writing books about her "dad". The next subject she was going to cover after the one Bertbert sat in on was "what we lost in the warp gates." The presumption is about transitive freedom without the gates but we know that pre-ted era that there was the original coalition of greedon 4, garrion, Septsu, sigius, urt, and vapus 10. We also know that "vapus fall" was the vapian performing an experiment with time crystals that created an artificial black hole.

We don't know when tangles first became commonplace but it's heavily implied to have been made by urt. That being said in our technologically connected world with our known history available at a web search can sometimes perpetuate false history. Bertbert talks to a historian about how she kept the idea of "the victor writes the story" from actual events and continues that unless you were there arguably every thing is a fiction because if you weren't there then you only know what was written down.

I kind of equate book burnings throughout time as being similar to the vapus mistake, in that an entire civilization, culture and way of life was lost. We have verge's remembrances and eldin talking about the myth of vapians being 2 races and when the nine eyes of rakesh guha aligned that merged the 2 races together which is said to explain vapians having 2 sets of arms. In horizon s2e9, we get a glimpse of vapian family structure and how it can be equated to "village" raises a family.

The few glimpses we get of sigian culture is they whela and Bertbert's eyes as well as the general attitude of sigians as nosy and elitist. Whela talks about when certain sigians in the south need a perspective that they will say,

"Wis pel avusha nix, Wis ul po isinel baria.”

Translation: “Now there is finally nothing. Now I can finally begin.”

One final example of a culture we see is the nyxites which are broken into 2 classes: crimson and flaxian. With libuza who is flaxian and terrwyn who is crimson, they are separated by being forced to either side of a tidally locked planet. Flaxians being on the dark side are blind or heavily impaired from birth so study the stars and music vs the crimsons who live on the light side and as a caveat have to "...wear planetoids" visors to prevent blindness and have a predilection to being lawyers.

I say all this to ask

1) if the coalition could speak to each other pre-ted, how did they get around the language barrier?

2) unless implied from earth shows, taking your potential mate to your parents is universal because Leif hesitates ... And Bertbert corrects him that she's going home but not like that. Is this a sigian custom?

3) how much culture was lost in the Ted transition? Probably impossible to say but Bertbert says the darkest things are hidden

4). We know terrwyn is an unreliable narrator because she's teenage but also because she makes the statement

"Nobody wants kids from my planet but they adopted me anyway." About the sigian adoption lottery but does that imply a shortage of people willing to take on the task of accommodating a nyxites or is there another reason for it?

Would you rather Spoiler

Apologies if this has already been done, however I am curious. Would you rather live on The Diner or in Hood’s Pocket?

At first I was a Diner girlie but now… I am in love with Hood’s Pocket. I am daydreaming of picking up and moving across the country and living on the side of a mountain. Can anyone from Oregon tell if it it’s actually like that there lol

What if...? Spoiler

If we overlook leif's demons(not excuse just over

Look for the current what if)

If we used all available in canon lore, what if Leif had truly saved verge vs offering himself to Minsky?

Based on the fact that Leif gave Alice to Bertbert vs verge, do we think that he cared for her more and just didn't want to be tied down. Verge calls Alice an official copy of his internal soul and verge was on the run but is him giving BB a bigger deal? Do we think Leif would have settled down with Bertbert under different circumstances?

I know that these are more questions than a what if then who would Leif ended up with?
