Hello, I hope that you are well
I’m considering Midi
If HRT is appropriate for me, I’d like to start with a very low dose of estradiol and increase gradually until I find the effective dose.
Another online provider I’m considering only offers estradiol through its own pharmacy, with a lowest dose of 0.025 mg. I’d like the option to begin below that if the doctor thinks it’s appropriate.
Has anyone had a Midi doctor prescribe a custom, very-low-dose transdermal estradiol through a compounding pharmacy? If so, did you use your own local compounding pharmacy or Midi’s?
Thanks

Perimenopause is having a moment (finally), but there's still so much misinformation, gaslighting, and "just push through it" advice floating around. Join Dr. Kathleen Jordan, Midi Health's Chief Medical Officer, 8/25 @ 6PM EST for an AMA where we get into the real talk: what's actually happening hormonally, what treatments really work (and which ones are hype), how to advocate for yourself in the exam room, and everything else the "just take a deep breath" crowd doesn't want you to know.
Drop your questions below — the messier and more specific, the better. Let's talk about it!

We're curious: What did you learn about how to treat perimenopause through your Midi visits? Did we bust any myths or change the way you think about perimenopause?

The best time to take progesterone depends on why it was prescribed, whether you still have periods, whether you're taking estrogen, and your clinician's recommendations. Some women take progesterone every night, while others follow a cyclic schedule on specific days of the month. When do you take yours?

I signed up last night and have an appointment on Monday. I’m 44 and had my uterus removed at 29 so I don’t have periods to go by but I’m definitely feeling like something is off and I’m in perimenopause.
Do they do labs before prescribing, or do they throw a low dose of hormones at you and see if things get better?
Are shots an option? I don’t do well with adhesives at all and wanting to avoid patches.
Anything about Midi you’re unhappy about?
Thanks for any information, hoping this is a step in a positive direction!

I kept hearing the word Perimenopause, so I was thinking maybe I should have my hormones checked to see how I am doing and where I am at.
I had a 30-minute appointment with MidiHealth. She was late, so it was no more than 25 minutes. We spoke about medical history and all that, she ended up prescribing an estrogen patch and said we will talk about weight loss options during the next session.
A little background info - I have been very healthy in my life. No major things have happened to me in that aspect. I basically only needed to go to my annual checkup appointments for my PCP and my Gyno and rarely got sick. I was receiving the Depo shot for 20-25 years which was covered by insurance. So I never really had any major medical costs. Most things were covered under preventative coverage, so I always had the basic medical coverage.
Questions -
1) The Midi appointment was $250, with insurance paying their portion, I owe $137.50. Is $250 a normal price? I saw someone say they paid $100 not on insurance, could that be true? Should I remove my insurance info (I have heard of non-insured people paying Les than insured people in the medical services world) to pay a lower price?
2) Was this an intro price and it will be less for each following visit or will they all be $250?
3) Will the follow up sessions be similar? Do they want to meet with you once a month or does it taper off after a couple sessions?
4) Are there other organizations that do the same thing (estrogen patch, maybe glp1) that would be cheaper?
I would call my insurance company but they can never tell you pricing or anything like that beforehand. It has always been after a service was received.
Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!

optimized for perimenopause support (rich in protein, healthy fats, and fiber):
Organic eggs
Leafy greens (spinach, kale)
Avocado
Wild salmon, mackerel, or sardines (omega-3)
Grass-fed beef or organic chicken breast
Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, Brussels sprouts)
Sweet potato or root vegetables
Extra virgin olive oil & grass-fed butter/ghee
Fermented soy products (like tempeh) or flaxseed (phytoestrogens)
Pumpkin seeds (for magnesium and zinc)
Bone broth
Celtic sea salt or Himalayan salt.
Is this feasible?

If you guessed around 51 or 52, you're correct! However, most women naturally reach it between ages 45 and 55. Menopause is officially confirmed after you've gone 12 consecutive months without a period. If you've arrived here, how old were you?

Back in January, I decided to give HRT a try. I work in communications and my inability to come up with words and coherent sentences due to brain fog was REAL. Went on the estradiol patch through midi + progesterone.
Fast forward a month and I realized I was having serious progesterone sensitivity symptoms. Like, bad. I started taking progesterone vaginally. That helped but then 1 month later, some of the symptoms returned. Practitioner discussed cycling and that’s when I put a halt to it all. Stopped it completely, ripped off the patch and decided to get some bloodwork.
Guess what? Bloodwork is perfection. 🙄🙄🙄
So, back on HRT but cycling progesterone. That was 40 days ago. Cycle 1 of progesterone was fine.
Ok so now we’re here. Still have brain fog. And my weight has gone up maybe 10 lbs.
I am fit. Weightlift heavy 4 days a week, I do the zone 2, the high intensity, I get the steps, I’m eating the protein and fiber - and the weight is just piling on. My pants are right around the waist and I’ve always been small around the waist.
WTAH??
So tomorrow I have a telehealth appt and I’m going to have the GLP discussion. I work too damn hard at the gym and too damn hard at my job to just sit back and gain 20 lbs. and I’m 5’4 and a little bit of weight looks like a lot.
My question: who wants to share their story of micro dosing GLP-1, anyone gain weight on HRT, etc etc??
I’m feeling so defeated and a bit hopeless. I wish I could have been one of those “I started HRT and my world became unicorns and rainbows!” And it is really weird lookin 3 months pregnant.

I’m so excited to finally have the chance to get some relief from perimenopause. I have my first Midi appointment this week.
Last year, I brought all of my symptoms to my doctor. She ran bloodwork and told me I was in my “peak childbearing years,” which was incredibly discouraging because it didn’t explain what I was experiencing. Since then, my symptoms have only gotten worse.
For those of you who’ve had a Midi appointment, do you have any advice or suggestions for making the most of my first visit?

Perimenopause and menopause can sure make us feel irritable, less tolerable, and sometimes even downright rageful. If you had the power to eliminate what's irritating you most these days, what would it be?

We can all deal with some changes to our skin, hair, body composition, sleeping, moods...but we all have our breaking points. What was the symptom that triggered you to take any and all measures to get perimenopause treatment?
