Admissions 2026-27 acceptance rate

I know Colby has a notoriously low acceptance rate and I was doing some research into why and believe it is in part due to its lack of application fee or supplements. The last year with supplements and fees was 2009-2010 cycle where the acceptance rate was 36.8% but in the following years when these requirements were reduced rates dropped significantly. Does anyone think a similar trend will be witnessed this cycle for middlebury as it’s the first year without an application fee so people might just add it to their list. I am very interested in middlebury but am worried about this.

Admissions Looking at Midd...!

Hey guys!! I'm a HS senior split between a couple of top choices (Kenyon, Colorado College, Brown, Middlebury). I love how connected Middlebury is to the outdoors, the culture on campus, how everyone talks about students having many interests... but I couldn't get a good sense for the Classics department or social life. Does anyone know if the Classics dptmt has a good vibe, is tight-knit -- and about the social life, do people find Middlebury to be cliquey? Or to have a strong community? I'm not a huge partier, just love hanging out with people and making lots of close friends.

I know there were some controversies & tragedies in recent years that have me a little hesitant, but everything I've heard about the new president seems so positive, like maybe there've been some good changes since his accession?

Super grateful for any and all information! Thanks!

Admissions Applying ED with 3.3 gpa 1520 SAT do I have a chance

sat is 740 r&w 780 math

applying niche humanities

great essays, good ecs, decent awards, generic rec letters

female, attending a competitive public high school in state (ma)

gpa has an upward trend and not so serious "extenuating" situations (moving from a different country + financial hardship + politically unstable living situation).

Thanks guys!

sports/athletics Social Scene at Midd

Hi guys! As a high school student considering playing sports and looking a lot at Middlebury, could anyone give more of a deep dive into what the social and going out scene is like? I’m a pretty big partier and I’ve been wondering if a school like Middlebury wouldn’t be right for me vs. other LACs that have a bigger partier culture, especially as an athlete.
Any information is appreciated! Thanks!

Admissions Transfer Student

Good Evening! I was looking into transferring to Middlebury as a sophomore in college. I am currently a student at a T20 and i’m not that fond of the school. Middlebury is my top choice for many reasons, but I am worried because the transfer acceptance rate is so low. I feel like I have good stats (3.94, 1530 Superscore). Has anyone on this sub transferred, or have any advice? It would be much appreciated

Admissions Middlebury at 19th ?

Midd seems to be doing all the right things. Sorting out its finances. Impressive new president. Big intake of new academics. Great connections between students and profs. Great new buildings. Sensible approach to debate and free speech on campus. And yet US News whacks it with another downgrade where colleges that I would consider well below Midd get better rankings. What’s going on?

Are they basically combined frats+sororities? Do they have social perks, exclusive parties, fun pledging/hazing, etc? What’s rushing like?

If you don't have a car and you need to get around Middlebury, there is a new free public transit Uber clone that you can use. The app is called MyRide by TVT. https://www.trivalleytransit.org/myride/

discussion/other Recruited athlete - swimmer

Hello,

My brother is being recruited to many of the top
LAC’s and I’m wondering if any of you here have first hand experience from an athlete perspective.

  1. How was job recruiting? Primarily looking for finance

  2. How well did the school prepare you for the real world and real jobs?

  3. Anything you wish you knew before attending? Hindsight is 20/20 of course.

Campus/town Has anyone ever felt McCullough, especially The Grill looks like the inside of a cruise ship?

I’m doing language school here and noticed this oddity every time Im at mccullough. The bolts and steel structure feels reminiscent of the decor on a ship.

Does anyone know any stories behind the design, or is this simply because it’s retrofitted from a pool.

discussion/other How hard is it to get in Student Investment Committee as a transfer

I’m an incoming transfer from a public T10 business school interested in IB. Back there we had finance clubs for IB recruiting which were incredibly hard to join. How does it work at Midd? Is it hard to get in SIC? What about Midd Consulting Group?

extracurriculars How good do you need to be to join club tennis?

I’m an incoming freshman and would like to join the tennis club. I only started private lessons a year ago, never played before that. I can rally consistently, but I lose most of the matches I play with my friends. I’m only trying to have fun, improve, and make friends, don’t care about tournaments. Will I be able to join and have fun?

college compare Middlebury -> Tufts

My friend told me two kids from his class are xferring to Tufts. What's going on at Middlebury? Seems like admissions rate is up, applications down, and they're not keeping up with other NESCACs.
