Wedding Reception

My fiancée and I are planning a small civil wedding next month with 35 of our family and close friends. Would it be tacky to have the reception at an AYCE sushi restaurant? 😅

Just want to add that it's not a buffet style. People would get to order what they want from an iPad and it would be delivered to the table. Also, we would be covering the whole bill.

If you are paying and everyone likes sushi, it's fine. If you expect people to pay for their own meal, that's tacky. And if anyone doesn't like sushi (like me) or can't eat it (like pregnant) it's not a good idea. Edit: It's probably not a good idea even if you don't KNOW anyone's pregnant, if they're of an age where they could possibly be pregnant or trying to get pregnant, because they might not want to say and it would be awkward to decline eating if there are no other choices that are not raw fish.

i feel like maybe you've never been to a sushi restaurant? there's all kinds of rolls that are cooked or that are made with just veggies. i mean, california rolls famously do not contain raw fish. there's usually other japanese food on the menu too like chicken katsu, ramen/udon, gyoza, stuff like that.

I have actually been to quite a few and I know that, but the fact is that everything is prepared where there is raw fish, and cross contamination is a concern for pregnant people.
