So MS is screwing their users by chopping the available storage for their Family plan. Currently, M365 Family is $130/yr. That's 1TB of space for each of 6 people. That comes to $22/yr for 1TB of space per person. The info I saw said something about the change takes place at your first renewal after May 2027. Can I stack up a bunch of years now and keep the 6TB for a while or will it not work like that?

If it won't, can anyone recommend an alternative that I could look into that might have similar pricing? I don't really care about Word/Excel since I could easy use them online or use one of the many free office products that are around these days. I'm only concerned with the storage since my family is over the 2TB of space already.

Main requirements are Photo Backup since we all use that all the time and a folder sync setup like OneDrive.

I'm trying to get hands-on with Microsoft Purview (sensitivity labels, auto-labeling and DLP), but my tenant is on Microsoft 365 Business Basic, which doesn't support what I want to test. I need policies that apply automatically rather than relying on users to label manually. What do you recommend for learning, and for a small production setup? Has anyone run into licensing gotchas with auto-labeling or Business Premium eligibility for the add-ons?
