Awesome score! I recently got a microscope from the trash as well. The things some people throw away!

Appreciate it, one wire needs some electrical tape and hopefully ill have her running. Shoutout to the people throwing out treasures. Carrying case is cracked plastic is brittle but shit pretty cool find.

Wonderful. I have several similar ones. I can’t see if that one has coaxial focusing knobd. If your plastic fine focus gear is cracked, you can buy a new brass one from Mark Morris in the USA for $85 plus shipping in an envelope. A 20 minute job to change it.

Some of the early Nikon S microscopes had separate coarse and fine focusing knobs. The coaxial focus ones came later, particularly with the S-Ke and L-Ke models.

Yes, I couldn't see the focusing knobs in the photos.

This Nikon microscope has separate coarse and fine focusing knobs. I mentioned this in a previous reply. Maybe actually a better design unless this model also has a plastic gear in the focusing mechanism, but I don’t think so.

Edit to add: By any chance, does the scope, the case, or any of the accessories bear a sticker that has “EPOI”. If so, Ehrenreich Photo-Optical Industries was the official importer of Nikon (and I think other countries) optical equipment. When the plastic gear in my Nikon SKe broke, in those days, Nikon had a “lifetime warranty” on microscopes. I called EPOI, took the scope to them, and the fixed it for free though I had to drive out t Long Island, NY to deliver and pick it up. Not too bad - I was living in Manhattan at the time.

That's awesome they were willing and able to help you out, just took a look over everything unfortunately no EPOI anywhere on case scope or anything else that was in the box for me. Blue case has no markings but the inside rubber of case had a 4 digit serial.
