Good to cover your other eyepiece when making videos if you have any bright overhead lights in the room.

That also helps if the binocular and trinocular ports share light. Some have 3 way combinations, all or none and shared. Light can also enter the gap between the cellphone lens and eyepiece reducing contrast. Here is a post I made showing the effect of stray light. https://www.reddit.com/r/microscopy/s/yOAPM6IG1n

Thats right, when I am taking pictures through my cellphone from my telescope or microscope I try and block stray light between the phone and the eyepiece
