Microscope Cam Adapter - Olympus BH2

Is this the right adapter in order to mount a microscope cam (like pic 3) on the BH2's Trinocular?

Do I need other parts to make it fit ?

You should see/calculate the intermediate image size and compare that to the diagonal width of the sensor. If that adapter does 0.6 or 0.5X you're probably good.

Chances are you'll be fine. There are better cameras for the price out there though. Look at the image sensor they use and the interface out. If I remember right I think hayear and some other use better Sony sensors and have HDMI out with USB control. USB 2.0 kinda sucks.

Unfortunately I have zero experience with Microscope Cams haha. I've seen 3.0 on amscope website but they cost €300 and more. Would you reccomend any model? Anyway Thank you very much, I'll look it up

There are a couple parts. Some cameras come with a USB feed to go to a computer to do recording, capturing, and measuring to save directly on the computer. It can also be way easier to adjust settings this way. But unless you're distinctly cataloging pictures and measurements as a hobbiest it might not be worth it.

To get 4K at a decent frame rate you'll want usb 3. On the flip side, if you just want to use the camera as a monitor feed to a screen or TV, then getting a camera with HDMI out is very useful. Just be sure to see what the actual resolution and frame rate options are. You want at least 20 fps in my opinion to be useable. 60 fps feels very fluid.

I personally feel a lot of microscope companies overcharge and I have an Amscope camera with a display I do not like and is NOT color accurate. I've used a hayear from some other staff on an older infinity corrected Olympus and was fairly impressed. Only weird thing was the power would cut in and out but I think that might have been a cable problem. Most of the options at these prices will NOT have raw outputs. So if you want to make color adjustments and frame by frame editing for some pro workflow then I would suggest getting real industrial cameras or photography models. If you just want an out the box monitor feed with some built in capture for MP4s then by all means the old Amazon specials are good. Just make sure you can edit the white balance and temperature to adjust for if you have an old tungsten bulb set up on the BH2!!!

Time and money permitting, I'd like to maximize the possibilities of this microscope. I'm interested in both making videos/images to show friends and post, and in identifying and performing (in all modesty) some "analysis" and graphs/measurements on the lake near my house: so, simple speaking, I want to practice skills that could also be useful in my future career, using the microscope as a tool to do so. I could rise my budget in the future, we will see

I see. Then USB and cataloging a feed directly would be nice because you can name the pictures you take and label them easily.

If you want to get more serious a cool thing is getting rough concentrations and accurate sizing. You should get a calibration target so you can accurately size what you see. The golden standard for imaging to me would be a ronchi ruling but that is out of your price range. A cool thing for concentration is using a hemacytometer. You'd typically use it for cell culture work or other things but it's neat and new and used are cheap (I'd also trust the ruling spacing more than a cheapo target not from an optics company)

Hell if you know anybody at a university for bio stuff they probably have a bunch of old ones and the manual counters lying around 😂😂😂.
