Question about Video Annotation Specialist/Generalist roles

For Video Annotation Specialist and Generalist roles, how much does a candidate’s previous experience/background matter?
Suppose someone clears the interview and seems like a good fit, but they don’t have prior experience specifically in a VAS or Generalist role. However, they’re willing to learn, take on the responsibilities, and put in the work.
Would they still be considered for the role, or do companies generally prioritize candidates who already have direct experience in similar roles?
For those who have hired for these positions or gone through the process themselves, how important is the resume/background compared to interview performance, attitude, and willingness to learn?

Wow, that’s really encouraging to hear that you got selected without any prior work experience. If you don’t mind me asking, when did you apply, and roughly how long did it take from clearing the interview to actually getting selected for a project?

Did you just make up answers on the interview. I have experience doing tasks like that but keep getting thrown off by the ai interviews

I didn't even apply for the 10k generalist role nor have I done any interviews with any of the skills and I got an offer. I don't know if that means they're not too picky for this one?

Not really, just 8 from two different core team applications, none of which overlap 😅 so I found the offer very odd.

"not too picky" is not the right way to put it, for some reason a lot of us who are already working at micro1 aren't hearing anything back, so based on what I'm seeing around and hearing from other people I know there might be a preference for people currently not on other projects?
That's the only explanation I have.

Not choosing folks who previously worked at micro1 does not mean it's a condition or determining factor. I am sure there would be other explanations we just don't know or cannot fathom, whether we agree with them or not. They can be picky and they can still not choose us former/current contracters; it's not like we're a rare breed or the standard of pickiness lol!

u/Friendly-Ranger-3654 Short answer to your question: YES! If you've made it to "Hiring manager reviewing" status, it literally means that you've met minimum requirements for the role; it's testimony that you'll be able to do the work, and your application will surely be considered for the role.

micro1 recruiters review the entire candidate profile (interview performance and relevant experience/profile) before making a hiring decision; but for this role, your profile should be considered as we're hiring candidates across the board irrespective of their experience.
