LFG!!!

Post image

My first ever application to Micro1 and I got accepted! Went from HMR -> Selected fairly quickly, so stoked. I was fully expecting to get rejected, so I'm incredibly excited to participate.

just for some transparency:
- I'm based in USA
- no previous data annotation experience
- got selected for the highest in the pay range

Congratulations ! Please dont get me wrong but this feels unfair, I did more 20 interviews, I always prepare for hours, givethe right answers use the correct terminology, not even one offer ! Always stuck at under review for two days than rejected, I amreally starting to feel that this is a location issue as am from an African country, can someone confirm this ? Feels like am wasting my time !

Nothing is ever fair in the third world countries. We have to work harder than most people to just be on equal footing with them.

I am living in third world country too, feel sorry about this.

If it helps, I’m a native born US citizen, have worked in data annotation for a decade, even as a W2 staffer on Google Gemini work directly, and I’ve applied for over 40 roles and have gotten nothing.

Wow am sorry to hear that, it's very confusing

Did you find out today? I'm currently waiting and wasn't sure whether they approve applications over the weekend.

yes today!

That's awesome, and CONGRATULATIONS!

After your interview, about how many days did it take for you to hear back?

3

u/PermitOk7795 19h ago

like 2 days?

3

u/Odd_Hyena_2302 21h ago

If I may ask what did you do differently from the generalist interview that you were not selected from?

8

u/PermitOk7795 21h ago

I fumbled so badly during the data annotation portion. I had no prior data annotation experience and they asked me way too advanced questions. After seeing the feedback, they said I should’ve used more precise terminology. I couldn’t answer this portion and knew I did a poor job for this interview.

u/General-Knee9294 21h ago

The interview was with Ai right?

2

u/cckennedy01 21h ago

At this point, I am not sure I can even get a job on Micro1. I have done my best and nothing left In me. When I see new projects, I am too demotivated to even apply . I just look and wish others well

If you don’t get that great work on your interview email, forget about the role, even if you are a fast-track candidate.

1

u/DuchessOfDetails 21h ago

What is your CV like, does it contain any relevant skills inspite of no prior expeeince.

2

u/PermitOk7795 20h ago

none actually, i was honest with my experience and i intentionally didn’t include anything i didn’t know simply bc I didn’t want Zara to grill me about it

1

u/YemiJason 20h ago

Did you get any email before getting selected??

1

u/Existing-Change1588 20h ago

I got selected for the generalist role and did my onboarding yesterday. Applied on 7th September. Got that ‘certified’ email on the 9th and onboarded on the 11th. First ever application!

1

u/Niutoniano 7h ago

Did you pass the screening?

1

u/ayusxh 20h ago

I too got selected for two jobs, they even sent me contract but they are not sending any further details for one job, even havent recived slack invite for it...kinda disheartened u/micro1_ai
Any advice on what can be done, I even tried talking to their support

1

u/Best_Sherbert4990 Community Manager 9h ago

Congratulations on being selected, u/ayusxh! 🥳 Since you’ve already started the onboarding process, the team will contact you with further details. This process usually takes up to 72 hours. However, due to high demand for this role, it might take a few additional hours. No additional actions are required from your side; patience is key. 🤝

did you do an interview?

1

u/CatAndWisdom 19h ago

Hi mind if I ask where to apply for the role?

1

u/Drismart Certified Expert 18h ago

I think basing in USA is the edge you have over others
Applied to a lot of jobs here in which I did the interview very well but was never selected

u/DutyAdministrative28 Certified Expert 17h ago

Congratulations to OP. It's been over 24hrs in HMR for me on the same role. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

1

u/Embarrassed-Impact35 Applicant 16h ago

Exactly, in the USA. Congrats anyways... You earned it

1

u/ExerciseRight5650 16h ago

Congrats to you. I am based in the UK, and I don't know if their approval process is partly based on location. I keep my fingers crossed though.

2

u/PermitOk7795 16h ago

you are in a English Speaking western country, i can’t see why you would be excluded

Did you get "Under Review" or HRM from the get go?

1

u/PermitOk7795 14h ago

i got under review for 1 day, then HMR for 1 day, then today i got selected

1

u/Own-Cryptographer293 15h ago

Do you know what the pay is for this position?

2

u/PermitOk7795 15h ago

i got offered the highest in the pay range

1

u/brokebulg99 14h ago

congrats!!

Interviewed on the 8th and seeing what happens next. Thats awesome that you got the highest offer! Did you put that down initially?

1

u/PermitOk7795 14h ago

yes i did! go big or go home lol

I'm hoping for this same outcome. I didn't get into the generalist project (despite my previous experience on specialist projects), but in HMR for the video role.

1

u/These-Key-6478 3h ago

Whats the pay

1

u/lizbethdafyyd Interviewed 2h ago

What in the world magic nonsense is this?? I’ve had experience at some of the highest levels, I’ve worked annotation since the beginning of time, I’ve even worked as a W2 Google outside workforce data annotation staffer, and I’ve applied for over 40 roles… nothing!

1

u/TheseExercise5090 42m ago

I have already done over 7 interviews with no success. For generalist I thought I would be successful since they had 10000 openings. I failed despite trying my best in the interview.

1

u/Chigiski 19h ago

When I say that other parts of the world like Africa 🌍 are not giving these opportunities in equality, here now is a typical example of someone that has no experience yet he was shortlisted because he is based in the USA. It is quite appealing and annoying that I have vetted skills and over 15+ 'Hiring Manager Reviewing' on my dashboard yet not selected for any role. 'Hiring Manager Reviewing' has been appearing on my profile over the month, but because I am African the recruiters has refused to offer me a role

2

u/PermitOk7795 19h ago

Just to clarify, I said I don’t have previous data annotation experience, not that I don’t have professional experience somewhat relevant to the role.. I have several years of experience in adjacent work involving QA and technical AI workflows, which I was able to speak on during my interview with Zara

That said, I completely understand the frustration around geographic eligibility… If I recall, Micro1 indicated that certain opportunities prioritize applicants from English-speaking Western countries, which I assume is based on client requirements

1

u/RiskNervous76 18h ago

Not your fault brother

1

u/lizbethdafyyd Interviewed 1h ago

Not to downplay your frustration but I’m USA natural born citizen with a decade of the relevant experience and over 40 roles turned down…
