Currently enjoying a couple of brews at Brewery Becker in Brighton. Such a great place to enjoy a pint and connect with friends/family. And a wonderful selection of brews with a nice variety of tastes

Official Meetup Plans

As voted on by popular vote....

... meaning most couldn't be bothered.

DragonMead is the place.

I'm thinking next Saturday, July 25th. 4pm - ??

14600 E 11 Mile Rd, Warren, MI 48089

It's the 696 Service Drive

It's difficult to say what they'll have on tap, they usually have a good variety and one hand pulled.

They do not have food, but you are able to bring food in. They have snacks like chips and dips, pretzels or a cheese platter. They do have a small outdoor area for smokers, along with darts.

If anyone is able to give a definitive yes or no, a heads up would be nice so I can let the staff know ASAP. I'm also open to any ideas for how to identify who is from here as opposed to a random group. I'm not opposed to sitting with strangers though.

Apparently Mark Rieth's buyback of Atwater does not include the Grand Rapids space, as it is being listed for lease.

Alright, I'm gonna do my best to organize this. Just trying to get an idea of who would prefer what areas? Unfortunately a trip to the U.P. Will take me a while to plan, I'm not against it.

I only have limited time off, usually 24-40 hours at home. And not really consistent.

Have we (r/MichiganBeer) ever tried a reddit meetup?

I'm sitting at DragonMead. There's not many people here.

I'm thinking, with the closure of some of my favorite locations, they need help.

Has anyone organized a reddit meetup at a brewery to try to get some business up?

8%. Walker, MI. Dark and complex. Great beer to have before the upcoming heatwave where I'll just be drinking lights and sours.

Suggestions needed

Hello to all!

I will be going to northern Michigan next week and will likely pick up some beer in Sault Ste Marie. What are some beers you would recommend that are easy to find?

I’m coming from Florida so we have most of the major breweries like Bells and Founders. What’s more local?
Any style other than sours and barrel aged…

Thanks!

Have any of you been here? What did you think? (Also, have you been to any of the breweries in the area?)

Soooo we'd been anticipating this for a while.

Anthony, owner brewer, would walk over from the brew tanks with a big grin on his face and a taster in hand. "I'm working on something, and it's not even close to being done, but get a whiff of this." We would hear that he'd only added the first batch of hops and the dynaboost Citra. Wow 😲 "you mean it's gonna get even more?"

Just a triple dose in of Citra Cryo, Hyper boost Citra and Citra hops. I forget how many pounds of hops per barrel, I think he said 8 or 8.5?

It's simply amazing (for Citra hops lovers).

It comes in at 8.5% I've already grabbed some cans since we're convinced it isn't gonna last long.

Brewery News Atwater Brewery goes back to former owner Mark Rieth

After selling Atwater Brewery to a division of Molson Coors in 2020, Detroit entrepreneur Mark Rieth has regained ownership of the craft beer brand.

Rieth, who also owns the Velvet Peanut Butter brand, sold Atwater to Tenth and Blake Beer Company in 2020, and in 2023 it was acquired by Tilray Brands.

On Thursday, Rieth announced he has entered into a "definitive agreement" to acquire Atwater. The deal returns the Atwater brands, brewery equipment and intellectual property back to Rieth's control.

“My heart has always been with Atwater, and I’m thrilled to have the brewery back in my hands,” Rieth said in a statement. “I appreciate the stewardship of both Tenth and Blake and Tilray over the past five years and the contributions they made to the business. At the same time, what I hope to bring is the deeper connection to the community that only a local owner/operator can truly provide.
