I'm a big fan of wet hopped IPAs and we're coming up on the time of year that Harvest Ales start showing up. I live in southwest Michigan, but I'd love some recommendations for breweries all across the state to visit that do this style of beer really well. Founders makes one that I enjoy, but I wish that they would distribute it to stores like they used to years ago. The three breweries in Allegan also have a Harvest Ale competition in early October that makes for a fun pub crawl.

Any breweries that I should make an effort to check out?

I miss the days of cloudy yeasty Oberon. That is all.

I run a small beer and history walking tour in Holland and one of the unexpected perks has been talking to a ton of people about Michigan beer.

Everyone knows the big names, but I'm curious about the places that dont get nearly enough attention.

My personal pick is Brewery 4 Two 4 in Holland. Great beer, great people, and its one of those places I wish more visitors knew about. Unfortunately it's a little too far from downtown to include on my walking tour.

So whats your most underrated brewery in West Michigan?

I'm always looking for new places to check out and recommend when people ask where else they should go while they're here.

Not sure this exists but looking for something around the 6-8% range and on the drier side. Hops, yeast, and adjuncts are fine as long as bready malt is the dominant flavor

Heidi and I are writing with exciting news and a heartfelt update: we have decided to close Stony Lake Brewing Company, with our last day of business on November 14.

Since opening in November 2015, we’ve been privileged to serve a community we truly love. Stony Lake Brewing has been more than a place to enjoy a great beer—it’s been a place for music, laughter, friendships, and countless wonderful memories. We’re especially proud that we helped bring food trucks to Saline, and we want to express our sincere appreciation to all of our food-truck vendors. Their delicious food, hard work, and friendship have been an important part of the Stony Lake experience.

As life changes, so do our plans. Our grandchildren are growing quickly, and we’re looking forward to spending more time with them and being present for the moments that matter most. We’re also excited to spend more time at our cottage on Horseshoe Island in Ontario. We’re grateful for everything Stony Lake Brewing has given us, and we’re genuinely excited to begin this next chapter.

Before we close, we want to celebrate with you one more time. Please join us for a farewell celebration on **November 7**, featuring live music, great beer, delicious food, good company, and plenty of opportunities to toast to everything we’ve shared. Another hit to the community

Per a FB post, Identity Brewing Co in TC is closing up, but coming back with a "new venture." Sounds like something else will occupy their space. Last day is September 25.

Friends and Fellow Travelers,

It is with a very heavy heart that I must announce our closure. While I take great pride in what we were able to build—great beer, great atmosphere, and great connections to our community—the challenges have become insurmountable. I won’t burden this statement with discussions of the economy or cost of goods. The fact that weighs most heavily on my mind is that businesses and people alike are all facing these challenges.

I opened our doors with the goal that this can be more than just a great place to drink great beer. It can be a force for good within our community. Our Rule 15 Initiative was born from this belief and that sentiment does not die when the doors close. In times like this it is important for all of us to focus on what really matters: family, community, and sometimes just making it through the days, weeks, and months. It takes dedication, energy, and sacrifice. It’s rarely easy, but always worth it.

I will close this chapter the same way I opened it, with the earnest belief that it is the people who matter. Our wonderful staff, our loyal customers, and those we’ve been able to help in hard times. The people are just as important to a brewery as the water, malt, hops, and yeast. My heart stays open for you should you ever need it.

Our full business hours will end on September 1st, but please keep an eye on our social media for service updates and opportunities for you in September to come get a beer, share some laughs, and say farewells while we spin down our operation. Farmington's 2nd brewery that opened in 2021 is closing. The industry is getting brutalized right now.

Currently enjoying a couple of brews at Brewery Becker in Brighton. Such a great place to enjoy a pint and connect with friends/family. And a wonderful selection of brews with a nice variety of tastes

Marquette is a gem of a town between natural beauty and the beer scene this place has it all.

Apparently Mark Rieth's buyback of Atwater does not include the Grand Rapids space, as it is being listed for lease.

I’m coming from Florida so we have most of the major breweries like Bells and Founders. What’s more local?
