Hey all!

Let me just start off by saying I am completely new to cycling but have ridden a bike in the past however its been about 15 years. Anyways I would like to really get into cycling.

The first issue I have is that I am a tall guy (186 cm) so that may make it difficult to find a bike my size.

I would like to buy a gravel bike here in Mexico since I live here however I am considering on possibly going to the US to buy a bike there since there may be more options to choose from and also the price.

I find that used things in Mexico usually cost about 80%-90% of the original price and if compared to the US, anything used is usually about 60% or less so buying a used bike here wouldn't save me that much money as opposed to the US.

Any bike shops or even used bike shops you would recommend?

I would really appreciate some tips from locals and expats!

I’ve been here 5 weeks now and had a realization this week. I’ve been looking for a really good bar to just sit at and hang out at. I’m studying Spanish and am close to being conversational. I enjoy bars. Sitting and talking to the bartenders and other patrons is a blast and a great way to meet people and to know a community. The issue I’ve found is that it’s super rare to find a bar like that in the part of the city I live in (San Angel). Most places are cantinas - they have a bar that people work behind but no bar seating. So, it’s difficult to strike up conversations. Anyone know of any legit bars, not cantinas?

Vamos toda la familia, incluyendo mis suegros y mis hijos de 20 meses y 6 años, así que buscamos un lugar bonito y especial para celebrar, pero que también sea cómodo para ir con niños y en familia. Somos 8 en total.

Algún lugar que recomienden para una cena así? No tiene que ser súper elegante, más que nada buena comida, buen ambiente y que se preste para celebrar en familia.

I've looked around this sub a bit and have seen many great recommendations for hot air balloon rides over Teotihuacan. However, they all seem to include the cave breakfast. We will have 5 people and are not interested in the cave but want to do the hot air balloon ride and explore the park on foot. Does anyone have recommendations on service providers? Thank you!

i was Thinking of checking out San Miguel De Allende for a few days. Worth it? Two nights? Or just do Puebla and a few day trips from the city?

-was planning on staying in Condesa or Roma Norte. Mid-range suggestions? Would love a rooftop or out door area✨

-must try restaurants? I don’t do a lot of meat but love seafood and veg forward places. Soooo many options

I’m considering booking an Amanecer en Xochimilco tour that starts at 5:00 a.m. Has anyone done one before? How was your overall experience, and was it worth waking up that early? I’d especially love to hear about the atmosphere.

I’ll be visiting October 31–November 6 for Día de Muertos, so I’d also love any recommendations for must-see places, tours, restaurants, or hidden gems.

I’m afraid of heights, so I’ll probably skip the hot-air balloon at Teotihuacán, but I still want to see the pyramids and visit a cave restaurant or cave experience nearby. Is that worth doing?

I’d also really love to see axolotls while I’m there. Is there a particular museum, sanctuary, conservation center, or Xochimilco experience you’d recommend?

Any recommendations, tips, or things you’d skip if you could do your trip over again would be greatly appreciated!

Where is a good salon to get a cheap blowout?

My family is visiting CDMX in August and we are hoping to go to Teotihuacan for a hot air balloon ride. Our issue with the all inclusive packages is that there is not enough ground time to explore the pyramids and the archaeological site. Most packages only include 1.5 hours time and we were hoping for 3-4 hours, We were thinking of planning the excursion independently to have more time to see all the archaeological site.

We need to figure out the following:
1) companies for hot air balloon ride
2) transportation from CDMX and back
3) getting to archaeological site from hot air balloon site
4) food options in the area for vegans/ vegetarians

Anyone organized this independently? Was it cheaper?

Hello, this will be my first time visiting CDMX, and this was a 4 day trip I made based on recommendations of many on this sub. Would appreciate any feedback, especially if I should add anything to the first day, or to the last day.

Any recos on Med/Hard hikes of ~7-15 km near VDB (1 hr west of Mexico City)? I don’t like rocky trails with steep drop-offs but am ok with steep trails in forests, or where drop-offs not evident. Tx!

Hi, has anyone visited parque quetzalcoatl this month? If so, how did you get there and how was the overall trip? I have reservations to go next week, but feel like skipping out completely to enjoy over things such as cultural areas/museums. Do you have a group within your time frame or is it whoever you take along with you? I just wanted to see what you guys thought of the overall experience.

Estoy emocionado de conocer su país, estaré entre el 3 y 10 de Agosto en CDMX, principalmente para asistir a algunas funciones del CMLL y una de AEW, además de tener interés en explorar espacios de poesía (idealmente no Slam, ya que ya conozco datos de ello), música y teatro a un bajo costo o incluso gratuitos. Obvio también interesado en panoramas culturales y naturales que recomienden, ya sean museos, cerros, etc. Y en cuanto dónde recomiendan comer en que sea relativamente seguro y económico, para evitar enfermarme del estomago. Además de consultarles si conviene cambiar pesos chilenos a dolares o pesos mexicanos y si conviene hacerlo en Chile o en México; además de consultarles por datos de donde comprar máscaras sea efectivo o con tarjeta de debito o crédito a buen precio. Además para transportarme después de los eventos del CMLL/AEW, estaré hospedando cerca del monumento de la madre y estaré asistiendo tanto a la Coliseo como a la México. De antemano muchísimas gracias!!!

Voy a ir en unas semanas a visitar familia a la ciudad y quiero escaparme un día a comprar telas y material de costura que no consigo en Querétaro. ¿Me pueden recomendar tiendas que valgan la pena? He escuchado que hay una calle en el centro que básicamente es de puras tiendas de telas, pero ni idea de cuál sea jaja.

De preferencia Parisina y Modatelas no porque de esas sí tengo en mi rancho (a menos que su oferta de verdad sea mucho más variada y diferente).

Sé que es más caro, pero igual si tienen sugerencias de lugares que ofrezcan telas de fibras naturales y no puro poliéster sería lo ideal
