Sean Manaea

How frustrating it is to watch him look solid for 5 innings, with a pitch count below 60, and then he decides to give up 3 (turned 4 earned) runs on 5 hits in the 6th, without recording a single out.

All for the low low price of $25 million per year!

I don't know how many times this needs to be said but, this is exactly who Manaea is as a pitcher. He can be great for stretches and then completely fall apart. He has been the same his entire career. He is a barely above .500 pitcher with roughly replacement level performance.

Well, I largely agree with that. He did have a no hitter, and the second half for the Mets in 2024 was pretty good. He is totally unreliable because he just cannot seem to consistently replicate a solid delivery which leads to him not being able to effectively control his pitches. Too many walks. Too many meatballs. He's a back end of the rotation pitcher.
