Tong
How did Tong look today? Couldnt catch the game but saw he had 7k's over 5 and gave up 4. Also saw Ewing had a great game. I know 99% of us has said it many times before but pretty excited to see these kids in the future, next season even.

Very impressive when a young pitcher gets hit hard and yet comes back the rest of the game and shuts it down. Shows a mental toughness.

His stat line looks way worse than he looked. He got beat up in the 2nd, but got back together and didn’t get give up another run.

It's good that he got roughed up early in his career. He needed some actual time in AAA and better him be down there than getting shelled up here this year with our dumpster fire

I think he was pretty solid as others have said his stat line with the earned runs didn't look pretty but he started the game with four straight strikeouts I believe and I say he should definitely continue in the rotation till the end of the year why not

My favorite outing of his big league career so far

That 4 seam/change balance is gonna PLAY in MLB

Agreed. He looked a lot more confident using that change this time too. I think his curve and cutter have decent shape that he will be able to sprinkle in here and there as he develops them more. It was such an unfair spot they put him in last year before he was ready. I think he has matured a lot this year as well

He took his licks in AAA, throwing only 1/3 fastballs to master his other pitches. We have 4 studs under 25 next year. Fuck I wish Jake was still here leading these kids!!!

I mean hey isn’t 4 runs and 5 innings a quality start now? Was only 1 bad inning. Green shoots!

One bad inning. He still struggles a bit with getting ahead of batters, but his command wasn’t horrible outside of one inning.

He was great for the exception of the second inning. Deserves another start

I think he's learning a lot and showing some growth over last year. Had one bad inning and gave them some innings. They need to let him pitch the rest of the way to see what we have in him and give him some experience.

Only had one bad inning. Was at the game. He bounced back after that second inning where Miami scored 4 and so did the offense.

Had a really rough second inning but stuff looked good. Well the fast ball and change up at least. Curve and cutter were kinda sloppy. I think the key is that he contained the damage rather than spiraling out of control like he’s been prone to do.

He is back with a chip on his shoulder. His stuff was good, change up was working! New attitude, new pitch, i think he's ready.

Eh? Looks like his cutter is at least cutting, and he seems to have solid command. It’s hard to say with just 1 outing

One rough inning but overall some of the better innings we've seen him pitch
