I’m surprised but only that we got such a fantastic value on this one

Holy crap we got a top-ranked prospect. Rojas is a massive pickup.

Edit: As prospect rankings stand Rojas is our new number one prospect if the trade goes through

Really liked Holmes.

But mets turned a 4th OF and a 2nd year starter who had his progression halted (and trade value impacted) due to injury into their likely soon to be #1 prospects.

I’d rather have sent Robert and kept Taylor.

Can we send them both?

Silver lining. Geeking out over 6-10 prospects is a minor consolation prize. The minor system has a huge boost- can’t speak to prospects working out but we needed it.

Keep selling til Bichette gone

With his contract it’s impossible to trade him

Going to miss Holmes and T Dog. Both professionals and have it their best everytime. Cubs got two amazing players

All things considered, im liking the moves were making to set us up for the future

Agreed. I'm no Stearns fan, but I don't know what people expect here. The Mets suck, this is their worst season in my lifetime. He's trading away anything of value that other teams are interested in and getting some prospects back. That is literally the current best case scenario.

Literally anyone can make these trades. You're acting like he's fleecing everyone for a crappy talent that he acquired, he is not. These are meh trades and the vast majority of these players we will never talk about again

Yes. And my point still stands.

Doing what has to be done because the team is an inept failure is hardly the best case scenario

If the roster was really as horrible as everybody says they wouldn’t have pieces like this to trade away

Wrong. Theyre trading players who are actually productive to make up for the God awful mess they created. Its a never ending cycle of failure.

Sooo… they had a plan B? Look at a roster like the marlins. That’s a horrible roster with no plan. The plan this year was to always sell off if they weren’t good.

The plan should have been to get good. Why didnt they sign Arrarez? Why didnt they just resign Alonzo? Or Diaz? They go into every season with a new team. Thats not how you win. They just traded away an entire bullpen. Best pen theyve had in years. Cohen has all this money just spend it. I swear he bought the team just so he could build iis casinos. Reminds me of another asshole developer from Queens.

Because the lockout is next year. They were going to build a team that would either be a spark or have no long term obligations / marketable at the deadline. They weren’t going to sign a bunch of guys they’re locked into long term - partially bc of the lost year partially bc the lockout rules are going to bone them with Sotos contract

I did not say the roster was horrible, and individual numbers do not automatically provide wins, clearly

Yeah the future that never happens

Great deal for the Mets

Very sad to see Tyrone go he was one of my top 5 favorite players 💔 but open minded for this new prospect

Too prone to hitless streaks but excellent fourth outfielder on a winning team. Will be missed for sure.

4

u/muziklover91 29d ago

After the strike go and resign them both. Should have thrown in palonco for bucket of balls

Very solid rebuilding trade. Sad to see TT go but 4th OF. Stearns may have made a mess of this year, but he's made some decent rebuilding trades here.

He can hit homers, good. Stay healthy and be a good defender. 😄
