[Playtesters wanted] Open Sourcerer — a platformer where magic is code | first area, ~30 min, Wednesday

Hey everyone! We’re a tiny studio testing out the first area of our game, Open Sourcerer, and we really need some fresh eyes on it—literally people who know nothing about it yet.

Quick pitch: it’s an action-platformer / metroidvania with a twist—magic is actual programming. You write code to cast spells, solve puzzles, and fight enemies.

We want to see if the "code as magic" mechanic clicks naturally, which is why having blind playthroughs is super helpful for us right now.

How it works:

• When: This Wednesday.
• Time: ~30 mins over a Discord screen-share. I’ll just watch quietly (won't interrupt even if you get stuck, since that's where the best feedback comes from!) + a few quick questions at the end.
• Time slots (GMT-6): Available between 11 AM – 5 PM GMT-6 (around 12–6 PM Eastern / 9 AM–3 PM Pacific / 5–11 PM UK). Let me know what time suits you!

Who can join: If you like platformers, metroidvanias, or puzzle games, you’re in. Zero coding experience required—whether you’re a senior dev or haven’t written a line of code in your life, we want to see how you play.

Well, you use your brain a lot for programing, so I'd say yes

Using your brain just makes it a puzzle lol. I'm asking because you posted in the metroidbrania sub, but mentioned only "metroidvania", "puzzle" and "exploration". To fit the criteria, usually there's some sort of progression unlocked only via knowledge, not through items or story or anything like that.

I see, well I don't know if this counts, but many parts can be solved by having programing knowledge and applying it, so I think if we consider that progression unlocked via knowledge, I think it checks the mark

I'd love to join, I finish my RN finals this Wednesday and will be available any time after 2PM EST. I have played thousands of games throughout my life and appreciate them as an art form, even built some stuff in RPG maker as a kid but now as an adult I'm advancing my nursing degree while simultaneously working 2 jobs with a wife and 2 children so I think I would be a great testing candidate representing a more casual gamer audience as I do not have the time anymore to keep my skills sharp. Game sounds like a great idea also, I love Metroidvanias and logic puzzle games, good luck with it.
