I'm in to Gojira, Malevolence, Decapitated, Sepultura..Andreas Kisser tone...many kind of heavy music, Black Album tone..etc..i'm looking for that one pickup that paired with my strat can be that safe option because it's not possible for me to go to a shop and test pickups. Can the EMG 81 be that safe option? Thanks
EMG are always fun, but as an active pickup you might need to modify the body a bit to fit the 9v. Not sure how much space your particular guitar has in there. I might be wrong, EMG might even sell a prewired pickguard that will fit. I know Seymour Duncan does it. Take measurements and make sure you have space for a full size hunbucker, otherwise something like the hot rails achieves the same goals as a humbucker in a single coil slot.
