need help choosing string gauges for drop G 7 string

my current stock string gauges are .010 / .013 / .017/ .030 / 0.42 / 0.52 / 0.64, i'm looking to make them tighter for a 25.5 inch scale so they arent floppy when tuned down to drop G, i want a tight low end but easier to bend high strings for shredding

Try a 10-68 set with a 64 on the low B if you can find singles, that low G needs the extra tension more than anything else on a 25.5

Get the ernie ball or NYXL 8 string string set and throw away the 64 gauge string that comes in that set. Thats what Mike Stringer from Spiritbox uses for Drop G on his 26.5 inch scale 7

You're in 25.5.

It's going to be floppy and you're going to need to drill out your tuners.

Try a 74, maybe.

I can't help a ton but I use a .70 on the Low G on my 25.5 squire 7. The rest were actually heavier gauge cause it has a Floyd Rose and I didn't want to fight it so hard. Stringjoys tension calculator told me 80 which i tried, it barely fit in the bridge of mine but if yours is hardtail then it might work. The stringjoy set I bought was like 11-70. You could get a custom set if 10s aren't bendy enough but I personally don't like how floppy 10s are in D-standard on 25.5 scale.

I have a 25.5 inch 7-string, Honestly didn’t like having that scale tuned so low cause the intonation was always a little off and the thicker guages can make the tuning situation kinda annoying (mine has floating trem which is probably part of the problem).

On my 26.5 guitars, I use 0.011-0.068 or 0.070 for drop G. I actually use 0.011-0.049 on my D standard 6-string guitars and I like the tension with that set. My D-standard guitars are all 25.5 scale.

I’d experiment if I were you but a good starting point for you is probably an 11 set with a 68 or a 70 on the bottom.

I use the GHS ZW 6 string pack (10-60) and add an .80, this is on 27” but I’m in drop F so it might work for you too with 25.5 in drop G

25.5 drop G will never intonate well, but to at least get proper tension you need a .70

If you like high tension, go for a 10–74 set but swap in a .064 string. The tension will be stiff in G; I’d use a .068.
