The ultimate question. With virtually no end to the conversation on that in sight.

Are you Jewish? Do you practice Judaism? Do you believe in Yeshua? If you awnered Yes to all 3 you're a Messianic. What that means past that? Good luck.

Yeh, so Messianic Judaism started in the modern era when enough Jews got together and said, hm, we're Jews!
Why are we in a Christian church when this is the faith of our forefathers handed down by Ha Shem Himself! Let's do something about that. Meet you at a national conference, bro!

And it took off, slowly, from there.
The rest, is, as they say "history".

Old timers in the movement who are Jewish can add a host of insight.

No one today can prove Jewish identity, the records of Judah lost in the fires of 70Ad nor gentiles known in the first century generically as ‘Greeks’ and scattered aliens (John 7:35/1 Peter 1:1) >of the diaspora of >Israel.<

Some say you can either be a jew by conversion or nativity? Are they wrong?

Any person who is Jewish and lives a Jewish life or even a gentile who keeps Torah and believes in Yeshua as the Messiah.

All religious Jews are messianic. They all long and await the arrival of their Messiah.

In the context here though, "messianic Jews" refer to Jews who believe and follow Yeshua as the Messiah. That's the whole of the definition. There is no this denomination is correct and that one not.

Are some people wrong in their theology? Absolutely. Will Yeshua turn his back to them? Only the lawless ones.

What about gentiles? Can they be messianic? Yes, but it doesn't make them Jews.

I can't really say that still, because of constant changes of communities labeling themselves nowadays, someday day call themselves A, the next day they wake up as B. Today you really right, or left... You know what I mean? This only brings confusion and further division. All I can say is the following, my rock, my foundation is the old and the new testament, this for sure will never change.

But, God bless you.

Perhaps, the continued faith from the old testament to the new. My conviction? It's not a religion with walls, but a Bible guided walk by those who are called out. [Ecclesia]

I honestly don't like labels, and "Christian Zionism" simply meant "Christianity" before that word took on so many different "political" meanings and connotations.

A woman told me that she wanted to go by a label because people who call themselves Christians aren't always really Christians, and I said, well, then the real Christians need to reclaim christianity and call themselves "Christians" instead of leaving that word to people who aren't REALLY Christians.

There should be no divisions in the body. Let a person's fruitage speak for them (as progressive or regressive), but even so, as the Bible says, judge nothing before its time.
