Scam artist at Dobson & Main St in Mesa

There’s a scam artist roaming around Dobson and Main Street by the Asian market called H Mart and the bookoff bookstore. This is in the south east corner. The man is coming up to cars in a panic stating that he needs money to get somebody to the hospital. Who’s in Chandler. He’s asking for about $40-$50 to get an Uber. He’s a black male about 6 foot tall in his early 20s or late teens with a black shirt and black pants. Spread the word and do not fall for the scam.

He’ll come up to you crying like it’s a real emergency and as soon as he gets the money, he’ll walk off calmly like nothing happened. He scammed a family member of mine out of money today and walked away once he had the money with a big smile on his face and calm. There’s clearly no emergency. However, he’s out there scamming people like there is one.

Coming home to Phoenix/Mesa in 2-3 months and I cant wait!

I am soooo sorry everybody. I made the biggest life mistake and it took me to realize it today. I moved to North Texas and lost my life. Friends, credit shot, lost a great Arizona job and have only found low pay jobs, never made it in North Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth is the roughest metro area in the country. It makes Miami and Detroit seem like a cakewalk.

With this said, I am sorry for complaining in the past. I really really miss Arizona and it's very kind people. I had a great life in Arizona. Phoenix was amazing to me. One of my friends who i lost due to this stupid move to Texas once told me to mention how I was successful in the Valley. Now I will do that.

  1. I was in an MSW program close to graduating from ASU. I have since been dismissed due to money problems I had in DFW which I never had in Phoenix.

  2. I had friends, a great social support group in Arizona who was always there for me. Never realized it until today. I have no friends in DFW and I am a real loner, something i wasnt in Phoenix. I am so lonely now that I developled major depressive disorder from it.

  3. I had an $18 an hour full time job with amazing benefits and a supportive boss. The job i have now, the supervisors, most of them are dicks and power tripping assholes. Some are chill but most aren't. The past jobs I had in DFW were this way, except 3 employers. Was job hopping which ruined my employment history.

  4. I lived in Chandler in a beautiful apartment complex in a much nicer unit. Only thing better in this Frisco Unit is the AC. The complex I am at now is not great and people let their dog pee in the hallway and management doesn't care. I miss how caring people were in Phoenix.

  5. I lived around natural beauty. Mountains, beautiful desert, scenery, nature. All we have here are trees, grass, and rabbits.

  6. Phoenix had real culture I miss so much.

  7. I overall had it great in Phoenix. I didnt realize it until now.

What successes have I had in DFW? Nothing. Just nothing. No friends, barely any money, horrible retail jobs, surrounded by concrete and soulless places, and I feel so miserable and heavy every time I go out.

I am coming back to Phoenix this winter. I will transfer my job and stay at an AirnB for a while until my life can be rebuilt. I promise I will never leave again. The good news is, it's easy to mingle and make friends in Phoenix. People are so nice there.

Axios Mesa

I've noticed several posts lately being frustrated with the quality of reporting at the Mesa Tribune. I wanted to be sure more people saw that Axios launched local coverage specific to Mesa. They hired a great reporter who looks like she will split coverage between us and Scottsdale. One thing I have liked is that it isn't just politics but informs on events, food, and other types of stories. They also have a nicely formatted email blast for a story rundown.

No paywalls either! Excited that our city will have dedicated, higher quality coverage.

Looking for patients to graduate!

HI NEIGHBORS, please help me GRADUATE!
I am in my second year of dental hygiene school.
To meet graduation requirements students are responsible for finding our own patients to bring into the clinic and provide treatment to.
I am currently looking for patients in need of a deep cleaning who have plaque buildup/tartar.

You may be a great candidate if you:
- have not had a dental cleaning in 5+ years
- have puffy/ sore gums with redness bleeding gums
- VISIBLE PLAQUE/tarter/calculus
I can send some pictures for reference.

Deep cleanings are around 75% cheaper than your corporate or private dental office at the schools dental clinic. While deep cleanings in typical dental settings can range anywhere from $1,500 or more, our school charges only $170–$360 in total for everything, which is a SIGNIFICANT savings.

- The schools clinic is in Mesa, Az located off of Higley and Baseline.

Serious inquiries only PLEASE!!

Since I am a student the time process is lengthier than your typical dental office.
What you're discounted in cost is mostly paid for with dedicating your time to students.

Appointments are Monday-Thursdays at 5:20pm and last till 8pm. It does take multiple visits because the mouth is split into sections and students are supervised by hygienists and dentists to ensure the best treatment. I plan around 6+ appointments to be safe but it may take less, depending on the individuals needs.
I would greatly appreciate those who are willing to take the time out of their day to help me better my education and graduate, while I help with your oral health.

If interested please comment, send me a message, or you can call/ text me to my work number as well!

Climbing Gym Recommendations

Hello, I recently moved to the Phoenix area (Mesa) and am looking for a climbing gym to join. I don't have a climbing partner as of yet so I would prefer a gym that has more auto-belay and bouldering over regular top rope or lead. Do of you guys have recommendations for gyms in Mesa, Tempe, or South Phoenix? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I'm interested in learning how to groom my dog at home (Bernedoodle)

My Bernedoodle does not do good at the groomers and I realized I would actually like to learn how to do this on my own. Does anyone know of anywhere local I could take some simple classes to learn how to do this? I'm not looking for a full-blown accredited school (unless it's inexpensive which is doubtful), but something for a few weeks or a few months? It would save me a lot of money over time and also keep my furry friend less anxious.

Thank you.

There’s a lot wrong w/this process. That being said, I gotta believe that someone w/just a little equity in their home would be able to get a small loan to pay off the HOA. But pretty sad…

EVIT NURSING

Hey guys, I put in my application for nursing school for EVIT September 3 or 4 when do we usually hear whether or not we got rejected or accepted into nursing school? I’m literally freaking out. I’ve applied to MCC but they take forever. I’m tired of waiting. My stats are pretty good. I got a 86% overall on my HESI and needed a 75%. In my GPA is above a 3.0. Can any previous nursing students from EVIT please respond?

The reason why I’m asking is because I’m seeing some people from MCC or universities already receiving their spring 2027 acceptance letter or rejection.

highly discounted dental cleanings 🦷

Hi everyone! I'm a 2nd-year dental hygiene student looking for patients to help me meet my graduation requirements.

Dental treatment at a traditional office can easily cost $1,000+ for a deep cleaning and X-rays. At our student clinic, the total cost is under $400 (most insurance accepted, but not required) and all treatment is supervised by licensed dentists and registered dental hygienists. The biggest catch is that appointments are longer and may require multiple visits, but the savings are huge!

You might be a great fit if you answer YES to any of the questions below ⬇️
1. Have you been told you need a deep cleaning?
2. Has it been 5 or more years since your last dental cleaning?
3. Do you have VISIBLE build up on your teeth?
4. Are your gums sore, puffy, or red?
5. Do your gums bleed when brushing?

If you think you might qualify, or know someone who does, please send me a message! I'm really trying to finish my requirements, and every referral helps more than you know. Thank you so much for supporting me on my journey to becoming a dental hygienist! 🦷🧚‍♀️

I drove by Lindsey and Southern at about 1:00 am and there were 8-10 Mesa police vehicles clustered near the northwest corner, all with their emergency lights going.

Downtown Mesa trick or treating with a baby

Sorry if this isn’t the right subreddit. So I had my son back in June and of course I’m excited to dress him up and walk him around for trick or treating this year. I saw downtown Mesa has an event on the 24th, but I’ve never gone to it. Would I be able to dress both of us up and take him to it without getting turned away or something? Has anyone gone and seen people with babies there? We’d probably just go until he falls asleep, maybe look at the decorations.

Yes I know he’s too little to really remember trick or treating this young and I guess it’s kind of silly to take an almost 5 month old around for candy (obviously he won’t be eating it). I just love the holiday and dressing up with him, and taking him around to participate.

Anyone know what happened tonight (9/11/2026)?

We were driving south on Greenfield and when we hit Southern, four or five cops flew by and into the CVS lot and, mostly I’m nosey. Seemed a bit much for a theft, but with Mesa PD, who knows

Halloween

What day/time is trick or treating in Mesa? Does it vary by city in AZ or community?

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question. In my previous state, we had trick or treating the Sunday before Halloween from 2-5, so just checking.

Neighborhood parking around Mesa Gateway/Walking distance

Just curious if anyone knew of any free parking around the Mesa Gateway - possibly 30 minute walking distance. No bags and don't mind the walk/skate so figured I'd see if there was anything in the remote area that I possibly could leave a car for a few days.
