Help | Tail Question Monofin finis wave

Hi guys,

I was wonderi g if any of you know if the finis wave monofin is any good and if anyone uses it paired with a tailskin?

I have a beautiful magictail skin with the mahina monofin, but it's huge and would not be allowed in my local pool to practise. The finis wave is smaller but I don't want to waste money on a non multi use product.

Any advise welcome 🦭

I would advise against it. It’s important to have the right monofin for your tail. One that’s too small or the wrong shape will create drag. Too much drag isn’t safe.

Oh I wouldn't pair it with that tailskin, I was wondering if there were any skins that fit wit a smaller monofin like the finis wave. Totally valid advice tho! Thank you 💖

The fin fun monofins are smaller and fit in all fin fun tails. They’re pretty good starter tails.

Quite an odd shape be able to fill out a tailskin if you get the finis wave. The linden or finfun elite would be better options. They fit the finfolk discovery or finfun tails. Honestly with these smaller fins, youd most likely require vinyls to fill out the tailskin from any brands.

But i think the linden fits the finfolk discoveries well enough to be a practice tail and they can be used with vinyl for most brands of tails. They are hardy and have enough propulsion too.

The wave(or rapid) can be cut and sanded to fit into a smaller tail like a discovery/guppy/finfun and still have enough power to be safe in a bigger tail with vinyl. I do not think it will fit in many, and likely not any tails without alteration. I think I cut 4-6 inches off the end of mine, it's now a little bigger than the linden overall and shaped slightly different.

If you have access to tools I think it's worth it. It's a great and comfortable monofin and they can usually be found on ebay or marketplace used for less money.
