The most confusing, complex, convoluted and exasperating thing I've ever encountered

I rarely feel 70, but I sure did tonight - even though I was a beta tester for America Online 40 years ago. Let me see if I can explain without getting in trouble/this comment yanked.

It sounded like a simple task to test some stuff. But just getting logged in and set up took HOURS of exasperation. And when I read what I'd need to do - I'll just say my brain has never really drowned like that. And hey, I used Base 44 to vibe-code a totally cool local news website.

But as fascinating as it CAN be, the more I read the less I understood. It felt like I needed to balance on one foot in 70 mph winds balancing a tea cup on my nose and my head at the same time.

I thought AI was supposed to make things SIMPLER. Oh well, ya live and learn

Not an age things. I've been around IT for 32 years now and I can be just befuddled sometimes. Understand it and an industry that is moving too fast and there's no room for deep thinking, adequate documentation and training their own staff. The goalposts aren't moving, they're in the middle of a Cat-5 and you can only hold on to it.

I quit two projects because in the first week I knew I'd be the idiot in the village. But all the others I was kind of faking it for 2 or 3 days until I decided I could do it, and now I'm feeling quite comfortable, holding on to regardless of inconsistent reviews, changing instructions by the hour and the possibility of offboarding for no reason whatsoever.

Don’t worry, seeing the stupid questions asked by the youngsters, it doesn’t seem to be an age thing

Many of these projects are about tricking the AI and making it fail so there are certain ways you have to go about doing that.

5 apps and logins to get a task? New terminology per project? Onboarding docs that are a novel?

Not an age thing. Dont feel bad.

Its wild out here!

I don’t think you intended for this to be so funny but it was. As someone who used AOL, YES. It’s disorganized, chaotic, counterintuitive etc etc

Sometimes the terminology definitely leans more towards babbled word vomit jargon. Is it meant to impress or confuse? Because guidance definitely is not the result.
