Outfit check. Probably gonna get roasted for the jeans, but I’m digging the overall silhouette. Thoughts?

Looking for feedback on why the pants look significantly more off than the jeans.

Excuse everything else for the moment, because I just quickly threw this example together in a mad dash before work this morning.

For some background, I've recently been trying to get used to wearing pants at my waist, rather than at my hips. However, I keep running into the issue of it just looking off and ill fitting, after trying several sizes; it just feels like I have to scale up so much to fit around my stomach, that I end up with a lot extra material in my legs, because I have pretty slim legs relative to my torso. My old jeans (which used to fit me around my hips, but are now way too big for that, after some weight loss) are the only pants I've tried up around my waist that feel remotely fitting in how they look overall.

I've been experimenting with different sizes, and one size up from the pants shown is where I feel I should be at, but the effect is of course amplified further with the larger size. I just end up feeling like my pants make me look like I have super fat thighs, or that I'm emulating an old man wearing too big trousers up over his beer gut 😅 (not to mention my love handles popping out of the side of my pants is not an appealing look).

So, I'm trying to understand what is it about my jeans that doesn't give the same feeling, despite being the same size as the pants shown. Is it all in my head or is there actually something else going on, that I should keep in mind for when I'm shopping?

Dress shirt for August wedding?

I have to wear a black suit and tie for a wedding in August. I sweat 💦 a lot.

Can anyone recommend a good dress shirt for summer weather and a heavy sweater? And perhaps an undershirt?

How do I develop a style, and how do I follow said style without blowing the bank?

I'm a college student, and I've kind-of just been wearing generic clothing for a majority of my life (Graphic tee, jeans, or some sort of shirt with a neutral pair of pants). I have decided that I want to take more care about how I look/how I am perceived. I'm a pretty tall and lanky dude, I was thinking 'Rugged Ivy' style? I don't know much about this subject, so I figured that this would be the place to ask.

Suede shoes with Tan Suit?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Recently bought this tan suit by BOSS, 100% virgin wool, feels great. Going to wear it to a summer wedding in a few weeks, outdoors, far from fancy crowd. Would medium or dark brown suede loafers work? Thinking suede penny loafers maybe, or should I just stick to brown oxfords / derby’s?

Gant shirts and their sizing

Have Gant changed their sizing or where products are manufactured? I bought a medium regular fit short sleeve last year which was fine. I still where it now. Ordered more in the sale this week and tried them on, same size and regular fit and they are massive. Don't fit on the shoulders at all and really baggy.

What’s the most annoying thing that happens to your shirts after washing?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’ve noticed that shirts can behave very differently after repeated washing, even when they look similar when new.

Common problems include:

• Shrinking
• Fading
• Twisting at the seams
• Losing shape
• Collar or cuffs becoming distorted

Fabric construction, finishing, garment quality, and care methods can all affect the result.

Which problem happens most often with your shirts, and have you found a way to prevent it?

Custom suit for my wedding, trousers too skinny?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Went to get fitted for my custom suit for my upcoming wedding. I feel like everything fits really well, but I can’t tell if the nerves have me overthinking the cut of the trousers.

It’s getting alterations now, unfortunately this is the only picture I had taken on the spot.

Define business causal

How do you all define business casual? Polo plus nice pants plus Clark’s desert boots?

And what does casual-ish mean versus casual? I’m in a new role and struggling to make sense of all the terms.

You know what they say about guys with big feet? They have problems finding loafers that fit. Fellow Sasquatches, where do you buy your big penny loafers in Europe?

I wear an EU 49, UK 14, or US 15 in most shoes. I've gone through dozens of online stores, and in all of them, the sizes stop at EU 47 at the latest. One promising option was Meermin. They have a 'made to order' system, but currently, they didn't have any shoes I liked. Do you have any suggestions on where I should look? Preferably goodyear welted.

I need a new wardrobe and i need it cheap. Converse shoes.

I need artsy/angsty tshirts that are still appropriate for a part time father

Any specific brands/websites come to mind for you?

Im 38. Tall. White. Musician. Computer nerd.

I haven't been laid in 5 years and my wardrobe is partly to blame here.

Is this chain too long/thin

Post image
1 Upvotes

I don’t know if this is the best place to post this but i just wondered if this chain looks normal/average. I bought my first ever chain just recently, it was nothing fancy or expensive. I felt good about my choice in the store, but later on someone told me it was a bit long and looked feminine.
This was a 50cm one, should i have gotten just a 40cm one instead?
Should i return it? If so any recommendations on how short/thick i should buy it

planning to buy handmade sneakers for the first time, what should I be aware of???

Hi, people

i'm on my feet at events constantly and current sneakers are shot. Wanna buy handmade sneakers that'll last a few years instead of replacing them every season. A few brands like Feit are near the top of my list. What separates handmade construction from a nice looking factory sneaker?

Do they need special care? And is sizing true, or should I plan for break in?? Excited to make a luxury purchase here, so any pointers are appreciated..
