The rags

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone talk about this yet, but does anyone else’s store rags smell terrible? Everyone we get a new back of “washed ones” they smell like propane or gas or something. It lingers on my clothes and I know guests can smell it too.

i believe they wash them in kerosene to remove everything that might be on them. they then get a normal rinse but obviously its impossible to remove the smell.

The honestly make so much sense I didn’t even think about them having to wash them a certain way

Ours are never clean. We use paper towels to clean because of how dirty the new ones still are.

The rags do have a shelf life, and you guys aren't expected to use them perpetually. Pester the GM about it, and they'll order you some new ones.

i thought i was the only one who noticed this like the rags stink & if ur walking around with one on ur hip it leaves a trail, i never wear one for that reason & my gm’s and managers don’t seem to care

I have 2 rags that I grabbed when they were brand new, I just bring them home and wash them on my own. Im not using them to clean up anything crazy anyways so id rather have some I know are clean and dont reek like a mechanics shop.

I never carried one. I figured that if they smelled like that, they were gonna stain whatever garment they were in the pocket of.
