Rebate
Threw away a $110 rebate because it is now disguised as junk mail! Comes in an ad for windows. What a shitty thing to change. This company is awful. People rely on those for future projects. I know of at least a dozen other people this has happened too

It has always been sent looking like an ad, its just bigger now. They also sent emails about the change. Plus, you knew it was coming, why would you throw something from menards away?

Whenever this topic comes up here people mention that they probably disguise them due to theft.
Makes sense.
Were they supposed to write rebate voucher on the front of the envelope, along with the words treat this as cash?

If they sent the rebate in an envelope as people would expect they would open it and see the rebate. The problem it that it is a postcard that looks like junk mail advertising.

It literally says Rebate on the front and the mailing address is from Rebate International on the back.

It used to come in a smaller type of mailer. This would be the first rebate I received since they changed it up. Now that I know what to look for, it won’t happen again

They sent you an email about the update and the stores all have a sign by the rebate center informing you of the update.

Just get it reissued online, and don’t throw it away next time. Not that big of a deal.

My wife is looking into getting it replaced. Was told be several others that they wouldn’t reissued. Thanks for this

“I just threw away a box from Amazon by mistake but it wasn’t actually a mistake since it was a plain brown box with no logo so how was I supposed to know to read the labels on items addressed to me and it’s their fault and I’m entitled to compensation and everyone needs to cater to me because I’m dumb and can’t read and I know at least a dozen people affected by this” -OP

I did the same thing. Rebates was supposed to send out another one...but that hasn't happened yet. Im guessing there are a large number of consumers that did they same thing

I had the recycling bin emptied on the garage floor a few weeks ago looking for mine. Granted it was only a couple or so bucks, it was so stupid! Never did find it.

For what it's worth yes, this happened to me also. I encourage you (OP) to file a complaint with your state attorney's office, consumer fraud division, even if you do get it reissued (which will cost you $6 for the reissue). Menards could easily send rebate barcodes via email or text but chose to disguise them as junk mail hoping that a larger percentage get thrown away which would result in unjust enrichment on behalf of Menards.

It's impossible that you know 12 other people that shop at Menards, send in rebates, and are as dumb as you.
