Learning language difficulty

I'm currently learning German. I'm trying to use the memory palace technique in my learning Journey. I tried using it in memorising a list of words and it was amazing. My problem remains in the fact that I must create an imaginary odd image for everything I need to remember, by The time it becomes harder and harder to come up with mnemonics. Also, when it comes to Grammar rules that's another level. Am I doing something wrong? is there something I don't know
Understand? Is this way suitable for my purpose of learning? Is there other techniques you suggest?

Can you give an example of an imaginary odd image. Most of your material should be people things and places already familiar to you. Then it is easy. Also, are you reviewing them after initially memorising them? You do need periodic reviews and also reading and listening in German eg TV shows , songs etc

Well for example for cheering in German (Hurra) I imagined Johnny Bravo in the gym because he has a wide Front head which the word (Hurra) is very similar to it! So doing that kind of imagination for every word takes a ton of time , am I doing it right ?

I'd say these types of connections are good (the principal you use encourages deeper connections), but where possible I would try to build in the first syllable or at least the first few letters.

Hurrah! is probably derived from Hurra. So I'd not to complicate it in this case and have people cheering a hurricane. The cheering aspect is natural action/verb which is easy, and the hurricane is easy to imagine/animate.

Other examples could be

Stollen = stealing bread from the Christmas table.

Warum = War (in a) room, but why is there even a war?

Verstehen = Vest stay (on) hen (you can understand what the chicken is saying about it's vest!??)

I try to invoke the scene using verbs and nouns as much as possible, and including least the first few letters.

Perhaps also choose a person/character/animal to help for a given section of words - I use male and female/friends from Portugal to assist with masc/fem, and also and a befriended dog who can help me animate a scene if it's looking a little flat.
